IN-DEPTH 3 HOUR POLITICAL MURAL HISTORY TOUR Every city has it’s shopping and coffee culture but Belfast city has a unique past after coming out of 30 years of conflict.Your guides are the original drivers who had to transport their communities through the bullets and bombs of THE TROUBLES and have their lives at risk every time they seat in their black cabs. The North of Ireland has become famous for the murals painted in almost every area of the country . These pictures of IRA ,UVF murals are often flashed around the world on news bulletins or used as a backdrop when interviewing people. They often depict the history and political views of both traditions and are a way of marking territory. These wall paintings often look intimidating but they have become as much of a tourist attraction as many of the regular attractions within Belfast and beyond.

The Divis Flats is at the start of the mouth of the notorious Falls road it where the riots of 1966 took place which lead to The Troubles.Occupied by the British Army right up to 2007.

Bombay street is the official birth of the Provisional Irish Republican Army and where born out of the ashes of 1969 when 1000s of people where displaced and burned out by the police and loyalist.
Bobby Sands MP IRA volunteer the most famous mural is the world is facing the library which once was a RIC and blacken tans station.You guide will talk you through the 1981 hunger strike.
Clonard Monastery hosted the secret peace talks between Gerry Adams and John Hume and was later discovered MI5 had the monastery bugged.Build over a 100 years ago by locals and italian the altar is made up of the local womens wedding rings.
These massive walls where first put up 1969 by the British army and still remain today throughout the city.Presidents ,stars and tourist write their quotes for peace.
Crumlin road gaol and court house has seen its fair share of IRA successful escapes and RPG attacks during the Troubles.Built in 1800s it was a hanging jail right up to the 1960s
Shankill is split into lower and upper This famous road is one of the oldest in Belfast dating back to 445AD the bith place of the UVF and UFF.You guide will explain William of Orange to the present day and if close to July you will see one of the notorious bonfires.
You will have the chance to take photos of loyalist murals along the Shankill depicting loyalism and British history

Our driver Damien was excellent. Funny, witty and had great knowledge of Belfast. Did not initially think of doing a tour - so glad we did! As a wheelchair user I was treated as equal to all other passengers - unusual in this day and age!

Great information about the history of Belfast!
This tour was included with our Wild Rover Tour, so we were touring for about an 1hr 30mins, but we were still able to learn many about the history of Belfast from Pat, who had experienced much of the history. He explained the conflicts within Belfast in the past and drove us around the city as he gave us such information. My family very much enjoyed this tour, and Pat was such a kind and wise guy!

Amazing, 10/10, a must-do!
Amazing! Highly recommend doing this tour. Ger was our guide. Some of the insight would give you goosebumps! Very funny man also and could relate to Limerick able to tell us info about worldwide connections to Belfast. Both sides wer told and it was just really enjoyable to hear the history of our beautiful country ❤
