Delightful afternoon activity

Our tour group decided to visit Kinsale Mead Co as a last minute add on, and I’m so happy we did! Our mead guide was very knowledgeable and funny. We got to taste the best honey I’ve ever had and, of course, delicious mead. It was a delightful afternoon, and a fun way to learn some Irish history.

Fascinating!

We took the one hour tour and it was fascinating to hear about the ancient history and folklore surrounding mead, then to see how Kinsale Mead is produced. Heart and soul go into it with this small team and the meads are super tasty too!

Great family experience.

Wonderful experience right there just above Kinsale. Cara, our host, led us through the history of mead making in Ireland, how it was forgotten, and how it may Make a comeback in Ireland. All while seeing how it’s made and the opportunity to sample and take some home. Thank you, Cara.

Excellent tour of a one of a kind mead distillery

This was such a fun tour. We heard the history of mead, taste tested some delicious honeys, and saw how they make mead. At the end we tasted several different meads, which were delicious! It was great way to spend some time, and the only place making mead in Ireland!

A human-scale distillery to discover Ireland mead

A human scale distillery, the unique meadery in Ireland. You will discover the Ireland history and myths around mead, with humour and testing. From the bees to the different types of mead they make. To see something else than regular whisky distilleries or breweries! :-D

You know a tour is great when you all are talking about it all evening long!

Fantastic! Zara did a brilliant job introducing the history of not just mead, but how it pertained to Ireland history. We learned so much in an hour! Well done. I didn’t think I liked mead but boy was I wrong. Cheers to company. Everything was thoughtfully done down to murals, historical wall art and tastings.

A must-do in Kinsale for drinkers and history buffs!

This was a delightful sensory experience! Zara, our tour guide, was incredible! We tasted fresh, DELICIOUS honey; went on a facility walk-through; learned so much fascinating history about mead and about Ireland; and of course, tasted so many wonderful variations of local mead. We could have finished every bottle, such an impressive product line - literally all winners. Cannot recommend the tour and the mead enough!

Don’t miss this gem in Kinsale

Visited Kinsale and this amazing place was not on our list to do. Wow! Am I glad we stopped in and took the tour and tasting. Went mid day during the week and got lucky to have a one on one tour and tasting. Being from the USA and bourbons and whiskeys being so popular it was amazing to learn about the history of mead and the great work this small group of people are doing to revitalize this beverage. Hard decisions were made as we could only leave with 4 bottles. This is a must see.
