Aleksandar is exactly the guide you’re looking for… local, authentic, knowledgeable and a great story-teller, he can really get across the spirit of the place you’re visiting. Highly recommended!
My boyfriend and I did this tour with Aleksander on a recent trip to Belgrade. We had talked about visiting the museum on our own previously, but Im so glad we opted to have Aleksander be our tour guide. It was like having our own personal docent. He did a great job walking us through each of the rooms describing not only the objects on display, but the context behind their meanings and the part it played in a very big, very complicated history. There was no Yugoslavia in its later iteration without Tito, and Aleksander helped us understand the enormity of that while allowing us to ask questions at our own pace. He's extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Super happy we booked with him and would recommend his services!
With Alexandre's brilliant and engaging exhibition, just a few steps after entering Tito's Mausoleum, we found ourselves involved in the variety and grandeur of a region whose painful events we had followed with apprehension in the 1990s, only to put them aside when our consciences allowed us to believe everything was more or less resolved. Our historical gaps were not only filled, but enriched with details and particulars that made the journey compelling as well as immensely interesting.
Aleksandar gave my friends and I an amazing tour of the Museum of Yugoslavia. We really enjoyed our experience with him and learnt a lot about yogoslavia. Thank you!!
Aleksandar was a great guide. Very articulate and did a fantastic job of telling history as a story and adding cultural context. Highly recommend!
You know how sometimes you will go to a museum, and you’ll see a group being guided by someone who is really knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter they are talking about? You look at the group in envy because they are having a much better time thank you, listening with interest at the same things that you had taken for granted. You try to glom on to what they are doing, but it’s awkward and uncomfortable because you didn’t pay the few extra euros to get all that you could have from the experience. This is that tour that you wish you had paid for.
Aleksandar gave my friend and I an amazing tour of the Museum of Yugoslavia. We throughly enjoyed our experience with him and having his guidance helped immensely with our understanding of the content of the museum. Thank you!
Alexsandar met us at the ticket office and walked us through the museum, telling us all about the rule of Tito and the larger context of the multiple phases of the rise and fall of Yugoslavia in the 20th and 21st centuries. He gave a lot of information, but it was not overwhelming; it was like a great story woven together through maps, artifacts, pictures, and words. He pointed out extremely interesting pieces in the House of Gifts, including a connection to our own city of Los Angeles! If we tried to visit the museum on our own, we would have seen many cool things but would have missed out on the rich context of the history of Yugoslavia, the tensions amongst the republics, and power dynamic under the rule of Tito. We 100% recommend taking this tour, and any others Aleksandar offers!
I would highly recommend Aleksandar's tours! We initially went on the walking tour in Belgrade, which provided excellent context and helped us develop a much deeper understanding when we later visited the Museum of Yugoslavia. Aleksander's teaching style is very engaging. He has the ability to explain complex historical events and timelines in a clear, understandable, and interesting way. His educational background, combined with his genuine passion for history, politics and more, adds a level of depth and insight that further enhances the experience! These were some of the best tours I have ever been on. I could listen to Aleksandar all day!
It was great to dive deep into the history. If you want to learn about Yugoslavia, I highly recommend this tour! The guide was wonderful and answered all of our questions so well. Visiting Tito’s grave was also a really interesting experience. I learned so much that I would have completely missed if I had gone by myself.
