Itinerary
Pickup from your hotel in Athens or other accommodation. We drive for about 1 hour to reach Corinth Canal.
Corinth Canl connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. First stop there , will take great photos.
Ancient Corinth was a city-state (polis) on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. Corinth was a city-state and for Christians, Corinth is well known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of the Paul the Apostle's missionary travels. You can stroll the ancient city-state Corinth, where you can also see the Bema of Saint Paul and explore the small museum inside the archaeological site.
Acrocorinth, "Upper Corinth", the acropolis of ancient Corinth, is a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient city of Corinth and the Corinthian Gulf. It is the most impressive of the acropolis of mainland Greece. With its secure water supply, Acrocorinth's fortress was repeatedly used as a last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entry by land into the Peloponnese peninsula.
Visit this great picturesque mountain village and taste authentic Greek dishes and local wines. Kalavrita and the surrounding area are a resort for all seasons. This is your lunch place! You can explore the center of the town on foot before or after lunch. This beautiful town lies at the foot of Mt. Chelmos and it is a must-visit for the Athenians during the cold months of the year because of its ski center. Kalavrita is a dreamlike setting with stone-built houses, small squares, charming alleys, picturesque cafés and tavernas right next to the huge shady plane trees.:An ideal destination ideal for those aiming to combine their love for nature with their romantic mood.
A rare creation of nature with mysterious galleries and strange stalactite formationsIn general, the cave's walls are embellished with splendid stalactite complexes, which stimulate the eye and the imagination to create their own images, as the visitor goes through this stone forest full of surprises, while walking on a safe corridor. At the end of this corridor the visitor faces the «Castle», one of the most impressive formations on the ground recalling a castle's battlements, and even a «rampart» a few metres before that. Small or large lakes, 13 in total, succeed one another, while terrestrial areas alternate with lake ones until the cave's end, for a total length of nearly 2 km (1980 m) and an area of 20,000 m2. Proceeding further into the interior, the visitor has a chance to realize the particular morphology of a cave which has been opened along a fault: hence its narrowness and very high ceiling. Learn all about the caves once there.
Get on board Odontotos railway and marvel the greatness of this part of Peloponnese. Odontotos is not just a train. A great daytrip to see parts of the Pelopennese. The visit to ancient Corinth and Akrocorinth were a highlight as you arrive before the crowds. The train ride was great - scenery was beautiful. Lunch was delicious and the tavern had great atmosphere. The cave tour was shorter than expected, but at the end of a long day that was actually okay. My driver Antony was professional, polite, and informative.

If you have the chance to take a private tour, take this one! Our guide Nathan was prompt, kind and friendly. We had an amazing day, packing in many different experiences, that is only possible to do as a private tour - there's no way we could have done so much in a tour bus! The meal was absolutely delicious, Acrocorinth was spectacular (well worth the climb!), and the mountain train was breathtaking. Highly recommend!

We had a trip the Old Corinth, Acrocorinth, Kalavryta, the Cave of the Lakes, and the train back to Diakopti with Crispy Local. It was our third trip with Crispy Local with our host and driver Anthony. The service was great again and the experience wonderful. A great thank you for Anthony! Apart from that the sites we visited are absolutely worth visiting. A view into Greek history, excellent panoramas, delicious food, a marvellous train trip through the nature of the mountainous area of Kalavryta. We had an absolutely great day! Next year we will book another tour!

Our guide Giorgos was incredibly knowledgeable about all the site locations. He engaged in conversation when we wanted to discuss history and offered insights as they related to the sites we passed and explored. He was professional, a safe driver, and allowed for privacy during our day.

"We recently completed our second tour with Christy Local and George, and once again, we were thoroughly impressed. The day in Korinth, including the captivating caves and the scenic train ride through the valley, was impeccably organized. Our guide at the ancient city of Korinth, Vera, was truly outstanding. She brought the history to life with her insightful knowledge and engaging presentation. The chosen restaurant for lunch was a delightful experience with delicious food. Throughout the day, George's attentive care and consideration for every detail made our journey truly special. We wholeheartedly recommend Christy Local for anyone seeking an exceptional travel experience. Their commitment to providing top-notch service and creating unforgettable memories is evident in every aspect of their tours."

We had the best day with our tour guide and driver Mr. George! Seeing Ancient Corinth was amazing and the Caves of Lakes were beautiful! We enjoyed a great lunch at a local family owned tavern and everybody said this was their best lunch yet in Greece! We finished our day with the train ride through the mountains and it ended our perfect day!

From the first interaction I knew we were going to be in for a treat. Nathan reached out to confirm the tour, explained where he would meet us and was exceptionally polite. Once in the car our journey began. Nathan navigated the traffic quickly and efficiently while also telling us lots about Athens and its origins. He took us from one venue to the next always checking that we were having a good time. Nathan was extremely professional, friendly and lots of fun. We would definitely book with this company again.

From the moment Giorgos picked us up at our hotel the trip was fantastic. He was personable and the 10 hour day went so fast! The vehicle was clean. He was a good driver. The sights are unbelievable. Corinth canal, the Temple of Zeus, and the Cave of the Lakes were worth the trip. Lunch was in this cute village. Food was authentic. The railway trip down the mountain was beautiful. If you like the countryside combines with Greek archeology I would recommend this day. The company was easy to book with and contact.

Our driver, George, was exceptional. This is a long excursion, but George was so interesting that the drives felt short. 3 member of our group of 6 have mobility difficulties, but George went above and beyond to ensure all of us always saw the most that we could possibly see and we never felt rushed. Railway ride was very fun and gave breathtaking views. Especially if you can no longer hike, I highly recommend this train. Cave of Lakes is a place of wonder. You cannot take photos in the cave. You must experience for yourself. And, of course, Ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal were fantastic to see. For lunch, we expected a predetermined meal, but we were given menus and able to choose the dishes we wanted. All food was delicious. We were in port for the day with our cruise ship. Pick up was very easy to find our driver, and drop off was in plenty of time to be back onboard. Communication prior to our excursion was always clear and questions were answered promptly.
