Beyond the Itinerary: A Truly Special Experience with Sangay
We spent two and a half weeks traveling from East Bhutan all the way to the West with Sangay and it was an amazing experience.
Sangay is excellent. He has so much knowledge about the history and the culture of Bhutan. We visited many beautiful temples and he explained everything clearly. A big highlight was the Rhododendron festival we visited.
What we liked most was that Sangay really learned what we enjoy. He added many interesting small stops that were not in the original plan just to match our interests. He really knows how to give more than what was planned. The drives were not too long because Sangay made sure we had plenty of time for these beautiful stops along the way.
The whole trip felt very smooth because Sangay took such good care of us. If you are planning a trip to Bhutan, we highly recommend him. Sangay can also work as your private guide so we suggest contacting him directly instead of using a big agency. He made our vacation very special and fun.

Our beautiful, mindful journey
led by Sangay….anticipation for a Bhutan visit quickly became expectations exceeded with Sangay’s broad knowledge and love for Bhutan’s culture and history.
He was attentive to our interests, and planned efficiently for changing conditions and our comfort.
Sangay and his skilled driver Delthsin (sp?) made a First Class seamless team, the team one wants when hiking to Tiger’s Nest and throughout our gentle journey.

Highly competent and insightful!
This was a return trip to Bhutan for me for my 75th birthday celebration and my wife's 68th. We met up with a couple of friends from high school for a wonderful cultural tour under the mindful and highly competent care of guide Sangay Wangdi, who is a jewel of a guide! He was recommended by our trekking guide of 32 years ago, Sangay Wangchuk, who now runs the spectacular Dhumra Farm Resort in Punakha.
Can't recommend both Sangays enough! Such a wonderful experience in a magical Kingdom!
Operator response
Dear Skip, It was a great privilege for me to accompany you and your wonderful wife with your friends during your recent trip to Bhutan. It's an honor for me to learn so much about your visit to Bhutan in 1994 and the changes you have witness within the span of 32 years. I was truly delighted to hear you say that, the only thing that hasn't changed in your eyes is the continued kindness and friendliness of the Bhutanese people.

Look no further !
I am pleased to post this review for Mr Sangay Wangdi – my personal guide in February 2026. Any visitor to Bhutan will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable and a more engaging guide than him ! From the moment you arrive until the time when you depart, you will find that Mr Sangay takes care of all your needs, shows great flexibility and creativity and initiative with the trip itinerary, exhibits a real in-depth knowledge not only of the country’s culture, history and ways of life, but also on how these impact on the daily lives of the citizens. Whilst he is very keen to share everything there is to know about Bhutan, he also shows a very good awareness of what goes on in the rest of the world and his curiosity will keep the conversations going for the full extent of your trip. His level of fitness is excellent (and even more so after our daily calorie-bursting explorations up and down as many mountains as we could find) and I recommend that any potential traveller to Bhutan requests to have Mr Sangay as their personal or group guide – you won’t have to worry or stress about anything ! Kadrinche Mr Sangay !

Exploring Bhutan
Our 5 days vacation to Bhutan was quite lively and peaceful. Having travelled to India and Nepal with crowded places and traffic and loud honking sounds of cars and motorcycles, Bhutan was a time of peace and real unwinding. Sangay with his great driver greeted us and we immediately realized that Bhutan is distinct from our recent stops. Our guide wss quite informative, patient, and soft spoken. He followed the itinerary as well as accommodated of needs and interests. His driver was very attentive and kind as well.
I highly recommend Sangay, should you decide to visit Bhutan.
Operator response

Excellent guide with many perspectives!
I loved my time in Bhutan with Sangay — he was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and very patient with our group as we traveled around Thimphu and Paro. With a question about local culture, religion, or the business environment, Sangay knew it all! I loved our chats over breakfast and learned a lot from him.
Thank you!!
