Juan was outstanding!!!! We wanted the authentic experience and he did not disappoint. I highly recommend.
Thanks so SO MUCH!!! That's what we always wanted, to do the things you would love to experience ♥️
Jose Alvarez was a great driver and recommended stops we did not think of. It was easy to find him right off the cruise port. Jose was friendly and professional. Best part of our cruise!
Hearing that our tour was the best part of your cruise truly means a lot to us! It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Puerto Plata in the future.
The Best tour guides in Puerto Plata We spent 6 or 7 trips with Elian and it never disappoints. We have been to places that were not tourist places and had a wonderful time spending time with Elian. They will take you where ever you want to go and if you are not sure , they will take you to great places !!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It truly means a lot to us that you have chosen to spend 6 or 7 trips with Elian. 🙏 We’re especially happy to hear that you enjoyed discovering places beyond the typical tourist spots. We always want our guests to feel like they’re experiencing the real Puerto Plata, not just checking places off a list. It’s been a pleasure having you with us every time, and we can’t wait to show you even more amazing places on your next visit! Thank you again for trusting us and for being part of our family. 🇩🇴❤️
Jesus Castro was our driver for the day. He did an excellent job. I highly recommend you requesting him. He helped me figure out how to maximize the efficiency of our time to cover as much ground as possible. He made sure we were safe when on foot and protected us from traffic. His recommendations were spot on. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't go to the most elevated viewpoint but he came through by taking us to the most wonderful bed and breakfast that had an amazing view. The host of the b&b was the sweetest lady. We had a really really good time and cant wait to visit again with Jesus.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that Jesus Castro made your day so exceptional. We will make sure to pass along your kind words directly to him—he will be so happy to know that his efforts to maximize your time, keep you safe, and provide spot-on recommendations made such a positive difference in your experience.
We had the privilege of Elian Sosa hosting our group for the Tour of Puerto Plata. Elian was very attentive and managed our time greatly to make sure we were able to do everything we wanted to do in our time at the port. He was very knowledgeable and was able to take us to a couple spots not even on our list that made great additions. Tabacalera Cremo, del oro chocolate, macorix rum, and more made for a memorable anniversary trip for my wife and I. Thank you for a great experience!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a pleasure hosting you both and being part of such a special anniversary trip. I’m glad we were able to make the most of your time in Puerto Plata and add a few unexpected stops along the way. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Puerto Plata again in the future! 🇩🇴

Elian was amazing. He shared so much history about his country and showed us so many neat things along the way when we gave him things we wanted to and knew what was open and closed how to get there and gave us options. It was one of the best experiences.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that Elian made your visit so memorable. He truly enjoys sharing the history, culture, and hidden gems of the Dominican Republic, and we're happy that his knowledge and flexibility helped create one of your best travel experiences. It was our pleasure to show you around Puerto Plata, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure in the future!
The driver followed what was almost certainly a preset route. We did suggest a couple of things we wanted to see but these are popular spots, so they were probably on the route to begin with. The driver was efficient and polite and got us to all of the major sites of Puerto Plata. I was surprised that he was rather sparse on the narration. If he knew a lot about the sites, he wasn’t volunteering it. We did have to interview him somewhat. They’re off the beaten path site out at a village on the outskirts of Puerto Plata. Did have some guided tour of traditional coffee, roasting, and other processes, Including some medicinal alcohol, based concoctions that they make. These guides were looking for a tip as were the people in the amber museum in downtown Puerto Plata. That did not come as a total surprise but my wife and I thought if we have to keep going to places where you tip people will need to let the driver know it’s gonna start coming out of the allowance we had set aside for him! We stayed on budget, it was a good roll through the city. The restaurant he took us to wasn’t the street food we had hoped for, but it wasn’t bad either, they did a very nice job with the spiny lobster. This is the right way to tour Puerto Plata from Amber Cove. What could make it better? If we had a more talkative driver that was sharing more about the region. We ended up interviewing him, and he did answer questions, but a little push information would’ve been good. I won’t pretend that we knew all the questions we should’ve asked. If the driver had been able to share more about the area without us prompting that would’ve made this a five star trip. As it stands, it’s a solid four star trip.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We're really glad to hear you enjoyed seeing the major highlights of Puerto Plata, stayed on budget, and had a great meal—especially the spiny lobster! We also truly appreciate your honest feedback about the level of narration during the tour. We understand how a more informative and engaging experience can make a big difference, and we'll certainly share your comments with our team. We always strive to provide not only comfortable transportation but also a memorable experience by sharing the history, culture, and local insights that make Puerto Plata so special. Thank you again for choosing us. We hope to welcome you back in the future and provide the five-star experience you were hoping for!
We had an amazing day traveling from the countryside, to the city, to the beach! Jesus did an amazing job of showing us around for our first visit. We look forward to coming back and highly recommend this tour!!!
Thanks so much for coming to Puerto Plata! We love showing the best of our city
The tour company never showed up, or gave us instructions on how to find them. Eventually they contacted us and said they had been there the whole time, but we had gone to EVERY SINGLE CAR and asked for them. Nope.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're truly sorry that you were unable to join your tour. We would like to clarify that, one day before your tour, we sent you the name and contact information of both your guide and driver, along with the meeting instructions. On the day of your excursion, our guide arrived at the designated meeting point before the scheduled time and remained there waiting for over two hours. During that time, we also made several phone calls in an attempt to locate you and help you find the meeting point, but unfortunately we were unable to connect in time. We understand how frustrating this situation must have been, and we're genuinely sorry that we were unable to meet despite our efforts. We continually review our meeting procedures to make them as clear as possible and appreciate your feedback.
