We loved our tour of Mount Etna! Our guide Claudia took time to explain so much of the area! Our family enjoyed the entire experience.
Claudia was an outstanding tour guide! She was extremely professional throughout - engaging with an excellent knowledge of the delights Sicily has to offer! We had a fantastic day when our cruise visited Messina - I would thoroughly recommend “Discover Messina Sicily” for organising your own tour as they are very easy to book with and provide a very slick service! Special shout out to Claudia for making our trip to Mt Etna and Taormina very special - TY
An unforgettable day visiting Mount Etna and Taormina, with a lovely stop for a local honey tasting along the way. Mount Etna: Visiting Europe’s highest active volcano was a truly impressive experience. Claudia our guide from Messina Tours was extremely knowledgeable and explained the volcano’s history, eruptions, geology and landscape in a fascinating and easy-to-understand way. Being on the slopes of Etna, surrounded by the dramatic volcanic scenery, was spectacular. Taormina: Taormina was absolutely beautiful. We had time to explore its charming streets, picturesque squares and wonderful views over the coastline and Mount Etna. The atmosphere was magical, and Claudia gave us interesting information about the town’s history and most important sights. Honey tasting: The stop for honey tasting was a wonderful surprise and a perfect opportunity to discover some of Sicily’s local products. It was both enjoyable and delicious, and added a lovely authentic touch to the day. Claudia was the highlight of the tour — incredibly knowledgeable, professional and friendly, and always happy to answer questions. Everything was well organised, relaxed and enjoyable. A truly unforgettable experience combining nature, history, culture and local flavours. Wonderful tour and highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a great day with a talented tour leader Claudia. The time for each stop was well timed. And a comfortable bus ride with a skilled driver
Pick up from the cruise terminal went smoothly. Carmelo was a brilliant and considerate guide. Highly recommended.
Our tour guide , Carmelo, was excellent and very knowledgeable. He was very passionate about the area and really gave us amazing insights to the area and about the volcano.
Really close to cruise ship and easy to find the tour when you get off. Antonella was our guide who was brilliant and so was the driver. Quite a long drive to Etna but totally worth it and we were so lucky to see the volcano erupting and Antonella gave us a short walk which was really interesting and then we went to the gift shop to taste local produce which was delicious and the shop owner was lovely too. Next stop Taormina which was absolutely stunning and we had time to walk around and grab some lunch with the amazing view. Would definitely recommend the trip!!
Excellent experience. Guide was very informative and helpful. Highly recommended
Well, where do I start? We initially looked at booking a similar tour directly through our cruise line, but it was eye-wateringly expensive. We decided to book through Viator instead for less than half the price. We were prepared for it to be a bit stressful navigating a third-party tour, but it couldn't have been smoother! From the start, the communication was fantastic—regular WhatsApp messages and emails kept us completely updated. On the morning of the tour, we received a message letting us know who our guide would be and exact directions on where to meet. Leaving the ship, it was literally a one-minute walk along the pier, where our guides were already waiting, waving a flag and holding a board with our name on it. It could not have been easier. We were introduced to our guide for the day, Antonella, and our driver, Mouricio. Mouricio is a fantastic, safe driver, and Antonella is a fun, highly knowledgeable, and deeply enthusiastic guide. On the drive up to Mount Etna, Antonella shared fascinating history about Messina, local legends, and wonderful insights into everyday Sicilian life. While the sights themselves were incredible, what really stood out was the incredible care and enthusiasm from the team. We were lucky enough that Etna was putting on a bit of a show for us, and seeing Antonella’s big grin proved she was genuinely just as excited as we were! A few thoughtful extras made the day even better: the gift shops at the site were surprisingly well-priced, and we were treated to delicious local snacks on the coach, plus welcome cold water on the drive back. Honestly, I could not fault a single part of this experience. If you are on a cruise and hesitating to book outside the ship line, don't worry for a second. Highly, highly recommended!
