This was a long day with lots of time on coaches, but perfect for a day trip from Palermo the other side of the island. Sadly the weather was not ideal & Etna was calm after a more lively week, but the tour was on time and professionally run. Floriano the guide was enthusiastic, spoke several languages with ease & was incredibly helpful. Salvadore the driver was calm and efficient. I would recommend this trip for anyone without the time/ ability to stay on the East side of the island

Had the best day ever. From the early start Floriano our tour guide was on point, making sure everyone was updated and where they needed to be. He kept us all informed on all of the sights in 5 different languages ! Taormina was beautiful along with the amphitheater well worth the €14 entry fee. Next was Etna, I paid extra to go on the quad bike excursion and it was one of the best experiences in my life. How many people can say they’ve quad biked up Mount Etna ! All in all, I would never hesitate to recommend the entire day or both Floriano and Salvatore to anyone. Thank you.
Poorly organized! The places are beautiful but they manage the Time poorly. There is no explanation of Anything!!! It is a transfer that they sell you; if I had known, I would have gone on my own. Taormina has things to see and they don't give you time. I looked up each site on Google because nobody told me a word about anything. You leave at 6 am and nobody explains anything to you, and on top of that, you are rushing.
We came from Romitello,to catch the mini bus from Palermo outside restaurant 95.Very early start but we found that ok,as it was a 7am start.Parking in Palermo was good, because we have been 4 times was quite easy,we found free parking not far from the Opera house. It is a long day, when you get to Mt Etna you have to get a move on really quickly, we headed straight to the Cable car, which takes you too the pick up point for the 4 wheel drive bus then you do a guided walk too two of the craters not completely too the top as not enough time. Then back down to the carpark the whole thing just over 2hrs so brilliant but rushed. Then onto Taormina which was a beautiful town for a walk around and lunch also would recommend which was roughly 2 1/2hrs.Then back on the mini bus back to Palermo
The bus driver and host were exceptional and I would give them 5 stars. Mount Etna was disappointment. We only saw the older caters that had grass grown in them. The gondola was shut down and were unable to get to the top of the valcanco to see the lava. Viator should have told us the gondola was shut down and we would have picked a different day. As far as I am concerned this was a waste of money.
The tour operators were very helpful and organized. Overall, they communicated the days itinerary well. Mount. Etna was interesting. There are a number of options to do there, including a quad ride, as well as hiking around the craters. Do be aware there is a cost to hike on these trails – five euro. The amphitheater was interesting to see. Time is short so I suggest packing a luncheon eating it at the amphitheater. If you go to a restaurant first, you might be a little pressured for time.
There was no tour guide, i.e. there was no information except the respective time of the onward journey. Unlike the description, none of the drivers knew German and there was no written information (in any language). It was driven with three vans, the whole thing very sporty (125 km/h at permitted 80 km/h, distance on the highway within the column regularly two to three vehicle lengths, occasionally significantly less). At the valley station of the Etna cable car you were handed over to the local quad rental, there the tour was touted and the ride with the cable car made a bit tidy. The quad tour was guided, costs are not much higher than those of the cable car. Those who drove along were thrilled, but could not see anything from the top due to the clouds. It would be good to mention in the tour description that you should take a driver's license with you if you want to drive yourself on the quad tour. When using the cable car, deep snow awaits you in March, at least that was the case this year. In Taormina you were dropped off at a central location and allowed to explore the place on your own. Conclusion: Tour to Mount Etna and Taormina are definitely worth it, you just shouldn't put expectations on the ride there.
There is no talking or pointing out historical land marks . Driver was very cautious and kept his eyes on the road. Very professional
This is not a guided tour, but a shuttle to Etna and Taormina. I had assumed a German-speaking tour, fortunately I speak English. There was only a distribution among the minibuses. We were not welcomed, the driver not introduced by name.
It is a bit of a drive and if you have any motion sickness, sit in a seat where you can see the road be careful of other passengers that might annoy you, but the driver was amazing and a great guy
