Set out to a private sunset day trip to Cape Sounion. Our trip starts with a wonderful drive along the Athens Rivera. During this relaxing ride you’ll enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf while passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs, including Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see several islands). Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy. As god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. After visiting the Temple, filled from the beauty, the history and the culture of this site you are set to admire one of the most amazing sunsets you could ever imagine. Similarly, when the sun begins to slowly touch the sea it is the perfect moment for a glass of wine, before having your dinner in a scenic, nearby seafront tavern. We pickup from all Athens Hotels & Airbnb's. Airport or Airport Area Pickup/Drop Off is extra charge. Please contact us prior to booking. Due to the fact that sunset is at different time per month please note that pick up is as follows : April , May, August at about 18:00 June, July at about 18:30 September at about 17:30 October at about 17:00 November, December, January at about 15:00 February, March at about 15:30 At Low Season, we visit a restaurant about 70 meters ( 230 feet) from the seaside. This experience consists of 4 options regarding dinner inclusion. Please make sure that you have booked the correct option : stop for dinner (dinner is on you) /stop for dinner (dinner is included in the total cost).

This was a very enjoyable evening! Dimitris was our wonderful driver. He picked us up on time at our hotel. We enjoyed his wealth of knowledge. We were 2 couples and it was one friend’s birthday. I submitted a simple request and Dimitri’s showed up with gifts for her. The view from the Temple of Poseidon was the best of our 12 day trip. After seeing the sunset we stopped for dinner at a place Dimitris suggested. We were hesitant on the fresh caught fish but it was so delicious! The meal was family style with way too much food at a very reasonable price.

We had the lost amazing time work Theo! He was insightful and knowledgeable and have is the best advice on places to go, see, and everything in-between! Not to mention he had an awesome playlist for the drive! He stopped to get us iced cappuccino and told us the history, stopped us to snap shots for us as a couple, and took us for I've cream on the way back! He even gote a gift fort birthday!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Sounio with Theo. We fully expected the temple of Poseidon to be amazing, which it was, but we also really enjoyed the chance to get out of Athens for an evening and see the beach towns on the way. Had no idea that this is what exists just outside the city. The stop at the seaside restaurant was also one of the best meals we had on the trip with huge portions of vey tasty fresh seafood and a great view. 100% recommend!

Watching the sunset over the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounio was absolutely breathtaking, and the drive along the coast getting there was gorgeous in its own right. One of the best sunsets we saw while we were in Athens! Our driver Dimitris was great, the restaurant he took us to for dinner was amazing, he was professional, spoke to much of the local history and traditions and followed up with just good conversation. We were surprised with a box of local candies at the end of the experience. It was a perfect way to end our trip. If you a great sunset and a great experience… don’t hesitate to book this one!

Theo was our guide, he was from the area and knew the Riviera very well. He had lots of interesting stories. He definitely kept us entertained on our tour to the temple of Poseidon. He also took us to a greatrestaurant afterwards a family owned local place. The food was fantastic. Would highly recommend having him as my tour guide again.
