Itinerary
Rosslyn Chapel
Admission not included90 min
From our starting point by Edinburgh Castle, we head out of the city to the village of Roslin, making our first stop at Rosslyn Chapel. Described as the "Library in Stone", the inside walls of Rosslyn Chapel are covered in thousands of ancient carvings, each with a story of its own. You can also learn of the myths and legends surrounding the chapel, including tales of the Knights Templar. Rosslyn Chapel's worldwide fame increased thanks to "The Da Vinci Code", Dan Brown's blockbusting novel.
Melrose Abbey
Admission not included90 min
We travel to the historic town of Melrose, birthplace of the game of Rugby Sevens and location of Melrose Abbey, founded in 660, said to be the burial place of the casket containing the heart of Robert the Bruce. Here we stop for lunch and have free time to explore Melrose and its Abbey.
Due to masonry inspections, there is currently no visitor access to the abbey church.
Glenkinchie Distillery
Admission not included60 min
As we make our way back to Edinburgh, we'll take in the stunning scenery of the Borders before arriving at our final stop: Glenkinchie Distillery, one of the last remaining distilleries in the Lowlands and the Lowland home of Johnnie Walker. Here, you'll embark on a relaxed tour to learn about the traditional art of whisky-making, followed by a tasting session (optional extra) of some of Glenkinchie's finest single malts.

First timers to Edinburgh!
The trip was great! We learned a lot about the area and had an opportunity to take our time at each stop. Melrose Abbey was an unexpected treat. Marty made the day fun by filling it with humor and a great attitude. He gave a lot of information about the history of each area we passed through. He really made the tour! We would go on another tour with him. The sun even came out for us which was great! The distillery was interesting. The gentleman giving the tour was knowledgeable and kind. He took note of our names and made the experience more personal. I forgot his name (my apologies) but I hope he gives every tour. This one is a must do when you are in Edinburgh!!

poor communications
The trip was cancelled the day before. the email said that they did not have enough people to take the trip. They should have told us sooner. We were able to find a different tour however for that day.
Operator response
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear your tour was cancelled. We understand how disappointing this is and appreciate your comments regarding communication.

Rosslyn Castle and the...
Rosslyn Chapel and the Scottish Borders are worth seeing. Melrose Village is gorgeous. Beautiful countryside.
Only negative was a person on the trip who overtook the conversation and talked with driver the entire time. Kinda took away from what have been a perfect trip.
Operator response
Thank you for your review, Katherine. We're delighted you enjoyed Rosslyn Chapel and the beautiful Borders scenery. We're sorry that another guest's conversation affected parts of your experience, but we're pleased you otherwise had a great day. Thank you for choosing Timberbush, and we hope to welcome you again soon!

Got to see some amazing places all in one trip!
Graham was our tour guide - he was funny, very knowledgeable in Scottish history, hospitable, and kept us on time. Rosslyn Chapel was just amazing, the highland country was beautiful, we stopped for a short lunch, then on to the Distillery. All very interesting and a part of the countryside we may have never seen had it not been for this tour.

Lovely day out of Edinburgh center
Had a lovely day with Gary at Rosslyn chappel, Melrose for lunch and glenkinchie distillery. He's very knowledgeable. I just didn’t know that Johnny walker now owns it. But very nice tastings and learned about whisky.

5/5 Stars – An unforgettable day in the Scottish Highlands! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As a solo traveler in a group of 11, I had a wonderful experience on this Edinburgh to Rosslyn Chapel Highlands tour. Our driver/guide was the star — fun, smart, and incredibly engaging. He kept everyone learning and laughing throughout the day while making sure we all felt included. The scenery was stunning and his storytelling made every stop special. Highly recommended!
