We had a lovely trip to Dyker Heights the lights were fabulous and Jorje was a great guide - we learnt a lot about the history of the area and the view across from Brooklyn to Manhattan was spectacular- would highly recommend
Well organised and communicated throughout. Our tour guide Joseph was very engaging and interesting. He tried to fit the whole experience to the group's interests.
Good visit and very nice and friendly guide However, the windows of the bus were very dirty which spoiled the view a little during the journey. The visit on dyker heights is done in accelerated There is not enough time to admire the decorated houses that are beautiful.
Hello, Thanks for reaching out. We're glad you enjoyed our guide! We're sorry you felt the tour was rusehd. Our guide has to negotiate travel time and showing the sites while respecting the people who live in these homes. Thank you.
Make sure you are totally bundled up! Thankfully we read prior reviews and we were completely prepared!
Bus ride is a little over an hour but our tour guide Chris was great! He was very knowledgeable about the area and had a fun vibe!
I wasn't sure what to expect on this trip, but I was amazed at the atmosphere this community has created. It was beautiful and put me in the holiday spirit. As for ExperienceFirst, they were excellent. Chris was knowledgeable and entertaining. He made the trip enjoyable.
Arrived and checked in with Guide at 4.00pm for a 4.30 departure. We were informed that the bus would be 5 minutes delayed. After 10 minutes still no sign of the bus but guide said the bus was on its way. At 5.00pm the guide said the tour was cancelled and no bus was coming. This trip had been booked weeks in advance. Obviously with it being Christmas time everywhere was already booked. Would not book with this company again
We are truly, truly sorry for the experience you had. Unfortunately, the bus for this tour is operated by a third-party company, and the cancellation was completely out of our control. We completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been, especially with your plans made well in advance. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and wish we could have done more to make things right. Your feedback is very important to us, and we hope to have the chance to provide you with a much smoother experience in the future.
My tour guide Sergio was amazing and i loved our tour, he was very accommodating and polite, would def recommend. The tour was about 4 hours long and that includes travel. The bus was warm, the only thing was the bathroom was broken on the bus.
Jim Q was phenomenal as a guide. My husband and I are from Queens but first time in Dyker heights. Jim Q was very knowledgeable and informative and made the tour extra special
Overall, we are happy we saw the light displays in Dyker Heights. The light displays in Dyker Heights ARE very impressive, but this is an experience we probably won’t book/do again. This has nothing to do with the tour company/tour guide/bus driver. Our tour guide had great energy despite the setbacks out of his control and I was impressed with how the bus driver handled the traffic/crowds. No onto the things you should know before booking a Dyker Heights Tour: - Bathrooms: There were 55 people on our tour and due to the nature of this tour visiting neighborhoods, there were no bathrooms available in Bay Ridge or Dyker Heights. There is one in Dumbo to use, but that isn’t until the very end of the tour. So for most of the 4 hour tour (scheduled time) the only bathroom available for the 55 people on our tour was the one on the bus. - Traffic: This is on us for booking a Saturday evening tour during the holiday season, but we experienced SIGNIFICANT traffic delays during our tour. Our tour actually ended up running 40 minutes over schedule, and our time at all 3 stops was cut short. We only did a quick drive-by in Bay Ridge. Didn’t actually get off the bus to see lights. Time at Dyker Heights felt very rushed due to arriving there behind schedule. Our stop in Dumbo was only about 12 minutes so you really had to choose if you wanted to use the bathroom or enjoy the city skyline. - Crowds: The Dyker Heights portion of the tour was extremely crowded. We walked with the tour group at a VERY quick pace due to the travel delays mentioned above. With the crowds, it made it very difficult to stop and enjoy the light displays. There were many houses I was concerned with keeping up with the group, I just held up my phone and snapped pictures while we walked past. The crowds/pacing of the walking tour would make this a difficult tour for anyone with mobility challenges.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the Dyker Heights lights and appreciated the energy of your guide and the skill of our driver. Holiday season tours can be tricky — we provide a bathroom on the bus, but extra stops are limited, and traffic and crowds can affect timing. We always aim to balance keeping the tour on schedule with letting guests enjoy the experience. Interestingly, the two reviews posted immediately after yours were from the same tour with Joseph, and they’re glowing 5-star experiences, which shows just how magical (but, yes, sometimes hectic) the holiday lights can be. We appreciate you joining us and taking the time to share your perspective.
