A cathedral rich in history from strongbow to a stolen heart but the real gem in down in the crypt where the treasures are on display. One of the copies of the Magna Carta being one of them. Well worth a visit.

Christ Church Cathedral (founded c.1028) is the spiritual heart of the city, and one of the top visitor attractions in Dublin. Step inside and you can enjoy the cathedral’s beautiful interior and fascinating medieval crypt. The history of Christ Church Cathedral reflects the history, both religious and political, of Ireland. The Cathedral Crypt is the largest in Ireland, dating back to the 12th century and the beautiful neo-gothic nave is an oasis of calm in the middle of a busy city. We had an excellent guide for Leonardo Christ Church tour ! Derry was very knowledgeable and informative! He made the tour fun with his sense of humor. I highly recommend going on this tour.
Christ Church Cathedral is definitely one of the stops I recommend during a visit to Dublin. Even from the outside, it is striking for its imposing architecture and medieval atmosphere, very different from the more modern and lively part of the city. The interior is worth a visit, but the part that intrigued me the most was the large medieval crypt, rich in history and details to discover. The location is also convenient for including it in a walk through the historic center, then continuing toward Temple Bar and the other main attractions. One of Dublin's iconic churches and a place that allows you to discover an older side of the city.
Decided to pop in on the spur of the moment and was just in time to hop on to the bell tower tour. The guide was fantastic, funny and informative and the experience was wonderful. Got a go at ringing the bells of a Cathedral in major capital city. The building itself is wonderful and steeped in history. Highly recommended.
Download the audio guide which is filled with information. Usually we can do a church in 20-30 min but this one takes more if you really want to appreciate the details from floor to ceiling, literally.
We were in the area so we just walked in to see if we could check this church out. There is a fee per person for it which it was fine, staff were very helpful and friendly. We did the self-guided tour. It's a 1000 years old medieval cathedral so make sure you visit the Crypt. Would recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Only need about 30-60min to see it.
A pleasant and slightly quick visit (I always regret the impersonal nature of the audio guide) that allows you to discover the inner workings of this cathedral. Not to be missed: the "Homeless Jesus" near the cathedral
I really enjoyed the tour of Christ Church Cathedral with Bryan. He was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the cathedral in an interesting and easy-to-understand way. His background in historical archaeology, including experience working on Roman archaeological sites in Italy, as well as his knowledge of art and architecture and experience as a registered Fáilte Ireland tour guide, added a lot to the tour. It was clear that he has a genuine interest in history, and his background helped put a lot of the details into context. Overall, a very enjoyable and informative tour, and I would definitely recommend Bryan as a guide.
Christ Church Cathedral is an absolutely beautiful and unforgettable place to visit. The stunning architecture, fascinating history, and peaceful atmosphere make it a real highlight of the city. A special mention must go to Andrea, who gave us the tour. Andrea was absolutely excellent — knowledgeable, engaging, friendly, and passionate about the cathedral and its history. The tour was informative without ever feeling overwhelming, and Andrea brought the stories and history of the cathedral to life in such an enjoyable way. You could really tell how much she cares about the history and heritage of Christ Church Cathedral, and her enthusiasm made the experience even more memorable. Five stars without hesitation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very good experience. The exhibitions in the crypt are very interesting.
