Downtown Pittsburgh Hidden Gems Food Tour with 5 Food Tastings

Description
Your Steel City adventure starts where the city itself began: Point State Park, at the tip of the Golden Triangle, where the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers meet to form the Ohio. From there we wander into Downtown Pittsburgh, past glass skyscrapers rising beside century-old facades, into the Cultural District, once industrial and now alive with theaters and galleries, hearing the story behind the Three Sisters bridges along the way. Hunger sets in fast. We start with the city's most famous sandwich, piled high with all the fixings, and pierogies, the local favorite. Later, a Greek sampler from a Mediterranean spot with over 45 years of history, once known for feeding pier workers and the Kennedy family. We close with a thumbprint cookie, a classic Pittsburgh treat and a true must have for locals, and our Secret Dish, revealed only when it lands on your plate.

We enjoyed our tour very much. Emily was a knowledgeable and very personable guide who shared information about the history and culture of Pittsburgh along with insights into the dishes we sampled. She was also sensitive to the gluten sensitivity of one of the members of our group. Bravo all around

Our guide Sarah met us at Fort Pitt along with several other guests where we set out on a walking food tour. Along the way we learned many cultural/historical facts, and Sarah was always friendly and engaging with all guests. We were able to sample a variety of classic foods such as pierogis with sausage, primanti bro sandwiches, Turkish appetizer sampler, and pizza all in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor. In addition you could choose to add on a beverage from the bar in many places if you would like. She kept our group engaged and entertained the whole time. As a family of 5 we had a fun time, and this experience added to our great first visit to the city of Pittsburgh.
Thank you for your review! Everyone at Secret Food Tours appreciates hearing how the day came together from a guest's perspective. We hope to welcome you back.
