Our guide, Allen, was very informative and had good “inside” added stories to the history. He wore a small microphone so no trouble hearing. Our group was 8 which was good. We saw some groups of 30 plus. Too big! My best advise is check group size. Good tour
So glad you enjoyed the tour! And, yes, we keep our tour groups smaller. Thanks for noticing.
We had an excellent insiders tour of Beacon Hill and Back Bay neighborhoods. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and Beacon Hill was definitely a hidden gem we would have never discovered without this tour.
Thanks so.much for your review! Beacon Hill is quite unique.
informative and immersive experience. be ready to walk. 8000 steps Alan was a great guide. learned a lot.
Thanks so much! Hope i wasn't too hard on you getting the 8000 steps.... Alan
This is not a Revolution tour. This is a nice overview of the genesis of Boston, some historical backgrounder of key revolutionary figures plus seeing and hearing the history about interesting landscapes, buildings and architecture. It covers Boston Commons, Boston Gardens, Commonwealth ave., Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Faneuil Hall, the Old State State House and the Old City Hall, and a lot more. Don't let Alan fool you. He may be retired but he does this for a living - the walking tour pace is slightly fast to fit in so much in just two hours. We took a restroom break about halfway through. We're in our early 60s and in ok shape. We walked over 10K (walking) steps as well as some steps (real steps) and inclines (think Beacon Hill). We were a little stiff the next day, but all in all, we were good. Alan is a born Boston native and passionate about it - the real McCoy. We also attended a good revolutionary tour the next day, but we were happy we did this tour beforehand because it was not only a great foundation for the second tour, but it provided some information not included in the other tour. Thanks Alan!
Thank you not just for the kind words, which are very much appreciated, but also for your detail and insight on the tour. I do try to inspire folks. But you've inspired me as well! Made my day...
Alan and the tour were absolutely amazing! Our family of three got Alan all to ourselves and learned fascinating facts for around 2 hours. We got to see the Freedom Trail sites while discussing them in fuller historical context rather than just colonial times. We also got an awesome look into some of Bostons prominent neighborhoods and learned about their unique characteristics. Overall an amazing time and 10 out of 10 recommend!
Thanks so much for your rousing review! It was my pleasure sharing Boston with you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Allan was such a fun and knowledgeable tour guide. I appreciate that our tour group was small because we got to hear it all. Our tour guide was patient and answered everyone’s questions. It was my daughter’s favorite part of the trip.
So happy you all enjoyed the tour!
Alan, our tour guide, was a gem! We were a small group tour that walked along the Freedom Trail, gaining insights that only a lifelong Boston resident could provide. The fact that he does this in his 'retirement years' tells you that he is passionate about history and his hometown. Friendly, informative, and made efforts to tailor the tour around the tidbits of info he asked about us. Highly recommend!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate that you felt engaged and noticed the tailoring!
Our guide was great and knowledgeable about all the sites. He went at a good pace and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend this tour
Thanks for the very kind words!
It was very good perfect timing and entertaining very knowledgeable guide and with a good sense of humor
You made my day! Thanks!!
Very informative tour of Boston. He knew so much history of the areas we toured. Doesn't do the entire Freedom Trail. It was very difficult to find the tour guide Need to have a better way to locate them
Glad you enjoyed the tour. Sorry you did not see me immediately.
