Gin & whiskey
Had a great tour with John, personal because we were the only ones on a mid week tour. Very informative re their whiskey and gin processes. Tasting was also great. Also had some lunch there which was yummy 😋

Great Distillery but cafe doesn't appeal
I booked the whiskey tour for my Dad as a birthday gift. He enjoyed getting up close to the distilling process. However the tasting part of the tour lacked information and personal attention. He was left to work his way through the samples by himself.
While he was on the tour, my mother and I looked forward to having a coffee and chat in one of the lovely rooms. It was disappointing to wait 45 minutes to receive a tepid coffee in a freezing room. The experience might have been helped with a crackling real fire on a cold winter's day.
Operator response
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so pleased to hear your dad enjoyed seeing the distilling process up close — it’s something we love sharing with our guests.
We’re genuinely sorry to hear that the tasting and your café experience didn’t meet expectations. That’s certainly not the level of warmth and attention we aim to provide, especially when you're here to celebrate a special occasion.
We’d really appreciate the chance to follow up with you directly so we can better understand what happened and make things right. If you're happy to get in touch with us via email sarah@oldkemptondistillery.com.au , we’d be grateful to hear from you.

Excellent Distillery tour and tasting experience
John provided an excellent and informative tour of the distillery and the process for making their hand crafted whisky, gin and other liqueurs. I would highly recommend the tour tasting.

Great place to spend a couple of hours. Interesting and informative tour.
Interesting and informative look behind the scenes at the distillery. Tastings afterwards. Lovely knowledgeable and attentive staff. Had nice lunch beforehand in the outdoor area. Indoor eating areas are great also. Little shop selling wide range of distillery items and other Tasmanian products.

Historical town and good whiskey
Amazing historical house and distillery, we did a quick tour and as we were the only ones we had a "private tour" very enjoyable. A tasting afterwards also very enjoyable and worth the drive

Wonderful Time
We arrived on a cool Saturday morning and we warmly welcomed by the staff. The tour was very informative and our tasting boards were clearly described. Our charcuterie board was terrific and allowed us to taste some local treats. I would recommend the opportunity to come and try.

Great tour and tasting
We did the daily tour with tasting. Parking right next to the distillery, knowledgable guide and a great tasting. We have taken a whole range of spirits home (got them delivered to our house for free as we were still travelling).

A welcome stop just off the highway, as it should be, evoking bygone days
I’ve been to OKD a few times now and am always treated like an old friend. Their cellar door tastings are a welcome treat, and the food from their cafe is a highlight of the trip between Hobart and Launceston. Their distillery tour and tastings are both of a very high quality, and presented by people who are clearly passionate about their product and processes. Do not miss the chance to stop in
