Description
The Diamond Circle tour is an unforgettable experience to some of Iceland´s most amazing natural wonders. We embark on a tour that takes you to the most beautiful places in North Iceland. The landscape and power of nature at magnificent Godafoss. The wonderers Asbyrgi where it is believed that it is formed when Sleipnir, the horse of the god Odin, touched the ground with one of his eight legs. We come to Dettifoss the most powerful waterfall in Europe and to Myvatn that will take your breath away. At the Lake Myvatn district we will visit Dimmiborgir lava maze and hike through the area.We also visit Hverir geothermal area where we will experience the bubbling mud pits.

We drive from Akureryi to Goðafoss or the Waterfall of the gods is magnificent and majestic to see. The drive to Godafoss will take us around 30 minutes and we stop at the waterfall for 30 minutes.
Dimmuborgir Lava Formations
85 min
We drive from Godafoss to Dimmuborgir for 35 minutes. We hike through the wonderful Lava maze of Dimmuborgir and enjoy nature optional is to take lunch at the restaurant. This is a 50 minutes stop.
Namafjall Hverir
30 min
From Dimmuborgir we have 15 minutes drive to the geothermal area with the wonderous bubbling mud pits. We have a stop there for 15 minutes.
Dettifoss Waterfall
100 min
From the Hverir we drive for 40 minutes to Europes highest and most powerful waterfall Dettifoss. We stop and enjoy the waterfall for an hour.
Asbyrgi
75 min
To Asbyrgi from Hljodaklettar we have around an 40minutes drive. Asbyrgi canyon is shaped like a horses hove and is a wonderful nature paradise where we will hike for 35 minutes.
Husavik
70 min
The drive from Asbyrgi to Husavik is around 50 minutes and we make a stop there for photos and bathrooms for 20 minutes.
80 min
We head back to Akureyri through the scenic nature with a couple of photostops on the way. This drive is around 80 minutes.

Visited early August....
Visited early August. This was the most amazing tour of the four we did in Iceland. Every turn brought mind-blowing and varied scenery. The itinerary was exactly as advertised, plus as we had a small bus, we got to stop at extra viewpoints that had only small parking lots. Joanna was our tour guide and she was wonderful. It was a 9-hour tour and there weren't any restaurants where we were going, so Joanna took us into a grocery store and we bought sandwiches, snacks and drinks. What a fun day!

Diamond tour superior to Golden circle tour.
Our guide was friendly, informative, helpful and interactive. He helped my 84 year old mother see some of the sights.
All of the activities were majestic. The north is beautiful!!!

Just letting you know that our tour on Wed. 13/8/25 was FANTASTIC; the driver was safe and professional; the guide was courteous, helpful, informative, knowledgeable and humorous. The weather was pretty ordinary but the sights we saw and your staff made it a most memorable day.

Great tour guide
Awesome tour guide. Helped those who had limited mobility, but at the same time made it enjoyable for those who wanted more difficulty. Very entertaining. Small group.

Passionate tour guide, well worth it!
The Traveling Viking has great tour guides. Inke was our guide. He grew up in the area and shared his interesting life and local sites. Our tour was scheduled for 8 hours, but we were able to a few extra stops (including seeing puffins!), and went overtime (but the guide was clear about cruise departure time). He clearly loves his hometown and the countryside, and his passion really came out over the tour.

Our guide was amazing
Our guide was super passionate about the area. He went the extra mile to explain a wide range of topics with a sense of humor. He even squeezed in some extra sights. We did other tours in different areas with different companies and none were nearly as good.
