Deacon Horse Riding Tour

​This horse riding trip was truly amazing! The staff and guides were exceptionally professional, ensuring everyone's safety and matching us with the right horses. ​At the same time, they were incredibly warm and friendly, sharing fascinating stories about Icelandic horses and local scenery along the way. Highly recommended for everyone visiting Iceland!

I made the reservation months ago and realized the night before that I stupidly put in the wrong time! I messaged the stable and Anna got back to me so quickly about moving us to the earlier time and also getting us transportation from Akureyri to their barn. Crisis averted! Once we arrived we were taken into the barn and outfitted with any rain gear we may have needed. We were sized for our helmets and then Linnea paired us with our horses. Once we had a short time to make our horse's acquaintance (Hi Narfi!), we mounted up, and we were off! One of my friends and I are experience riders, so we were given the opportunity to go ahead of the group and try to tölt. It was really quite the experience! The was another group with us, but it still was a nice private experience where each rider was taken care of depending on their level of horsemanship. It truly was a beautiful hour and a half of picturesque countryside and opportunity to commune with nature. My entire group felt comfortable and safe the entire time and would not hesitate to come back. Plus, the cake at the end was wonderful as well!

We had a fantastic ride on lovely horses. It was great that our guide tailored our ride to our experience level, and we were able to go faster than is typical on a riding tour! Our guide was friendly and fun.

Our ride was great and the horses were absolutely beautiful. The group was quite large, bigger than the 6 advertised which prolonged the time it took to get everyone ready. I believe due to that delay we were only able to ride along the farm roads and not necessarily into nature as advertised. However there was still beautiful scenery around and we still enjoyed our ride.

This horseback riding tour is an absolute must if you are vacationing in Iceland. Very well suited for complete beginners. You also ride a bit through the terrain, which is very nice; you see what kind of terrain the horses can ride through. The tour guides were very nice. They spoke English and German.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! The horses were fantastic, well cared for, and perfectly matched to the riders. The scenery was beautiful, and the rides were a great mix of fun, adventure, and relaxation. This stable is a peaceful and intimate place. Our ride was scheduled at a time that suited us perfectly. It was just my sister, our guide, and me, which made the experience feel very personal. On our second visit, we were also joined by a wonderful dog who made the ride even more fun! Riders of all experience levels can enjoy this place. I even saw a young child riding a calm horse that was being led by the guide. I wasn't completely confident about our riding skills at first, but our guide paid close attention to us and adapted the ride to our level. Thanks to that, the experience was exciting without ever feeling unsafe. Our guide, Idun, was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We especially appreciated that we had the chance to spend some time talking with her after the ride. The communication with the owner, Anna Maria, was also excellent from the very beginning. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made everything easy to arrange. We enjoyed our first ride so much that we came back for another one just two days later! Even though it rained throughout our second ride, we had an amazing time and loved every minute of it. If I had spent more time in the area, I would definitely have booked another ride—this time a much longer one. These horses are amazing, and I found the Icelandic riding style much more comfortable and less tiring than English riding. If we visit Iceland again, we will definitely return. Highly recommended!

This was an amazing experience! Our trail ride was customized to our riding level and was private to our group! We had amazing guides and an amazing host! Best cultural Icelandic experience we had on our trip!

Anna Maria, her family and friends were so helpful and accommodating on our trip. They picked us up and dropped us off in Akureyri. The horses were amazing and we're perfect for us first time riders! An amazing experience going through the countryside, one we'll never forget.
