Day Trip to Luxor from Cairo by Plane including traditional Lunch

I love seeing the Valley of the Kings. But, seeing King Tut's mummy was awesome because that was a dream of mines.

Generally, it was a very good experience. The places are amazing and the tour guide is very good on explaining all the history around the sights. I would totally recommend but the only thing I would have to complain is that on the package of the tour it says there’s a typical lunch included which didn’t happen. We had been informed that we could get one falafel sandwich, but that wasn't anywhere close to a typical meal. In the end we had to pay extra $10 US dollars per person to get lunch, and by the end of the day we never got the falafel sandwiches. So I had to pay twice for that. Rather than that everything was great as expected and the services they provide are good.

Luxor is a must do. Having the opportunity to go from Cairo was the best option for us even if it makes it a very long day. We were picked up at our hotel on time (5:00am) and dropped off at the airport. The tickets were arranged by the company as expected. Upon arrival at Luxor, Maickel met us outside the airport. Maickel was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. Due to the extreme heat (104F) we asked to modify the schedule. After some insistence, we were able to do what we wanted. Over a great day. I only gave 4 stars because I found this tour company to be overly forceful in trying to get you to buy additional tours or to go where they want you to. Big turn off for me but it might not be for others.

Adel Samir was a wonderful guide on our trip to Luxor. He was very knowledgeable about Egypt history and learned a lot from him. He is highly recommended to be apart of your trip.

They booked a $30 flight for us to Luxor and charged us $1,500. They did not communicate effectively and caused us to almost miss our flight back to Dubai. One of my friends got COVID and could not go and they refused to refund the money! DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM

This. Is. A. Long. Day. My driver, Ahmed, arranged to pick us up at 4:45 AM and take us to the airport. From there, we had to navigate the Cairo airport (3 security checks, gate opens 45 minutes before takeoff, DO NOT BE LATE). Pleasant flight to Luxor. There we met our guide, Michael, and driver, Hanni. Both of them were very nice and made the day unforgettable. We started at Hatshepsut Temple, which is impressive but required the most restoring, which means most of the stonework there has been recreated with additional new stone to complete the pieces. It’s amazing, but noticeably different than the other sites. I chose a very light long-sleeved shirt, light hiking pants, breathable sandals (Chacos), and a wide-brimmed sun hat to protect my pale skin. I cannot imagine slogging through in jeans or constantly reapplying sunscreen on bare legs and necks, but your mileage may vary. From there, we went to the Valley of the Kings itself, Al-Deir Al-Bihari Temple. Even the model in the Visitors Center of what we were about to see is impressive. There were three open tombs, Ramesses IX, Merenptah, and Ramsses III (actually KV63, just used for mummification). The Merenptah tomb, also known to me now as Leg Day Tomb, was quite deep and steep. It’s a very impressive site, but as there is no air flow it is quite the physical task to get out. A Bedouin in the central chamber guided me around the room and showed me the best spot (behind the fencing meant to keep tourists out 😬) for pictures. I tipped him 50 EGP but I have no idea if that is high or low, it just happened to be the medium bill I had. The extra tomb Michael recommended was of Ramsses V/VI, instead of the smallish, overpriced Tutankhamen, which was a real treat as we happened to enter when it was totally empty. These are all jaw dropping sites that took decades to make and worth the trip. We stopped for lunch at Aladdin’s Banana Island for chicken schwarma. The meal was delicious, the boat ride to get there was beautiful, but the zoo inside is kind of depressing. The fox and wolf clearly were not meant for captivity. The last two stops at Karnak and Luxor Temples were overshadowed by our level of exhaustion. This was late afternoon so it was lousy with tour buses as well as a festival that was being set up. I loved leaving the beaten path to see the Temple of Khonsu (the boys are MCU fans) which was deserted and amazing. Flight back scheduled to leave at 9:55 PM, delayed 20 minutes, and was still up after 1 AM. It takes a day to recover! Overall, can’t recommend enough, because of Michael. He knew so much about everything, plus was flexible in finding the best things for us to do. The day felt personalized. There is way too much to fit into a single day but it is possible, and you cannot miss it. I can’t imagine anyone will get this advice, but, in hindsight, we would have been best served but flying into Luxor on the first day and getting a hotel for one or two nights to really enjoy the area, then flying to Cairo. I didn’t even know Luxor was a thing until after I booked my flight, so don’t be like me!

Amazing tour! For all those who love adventure and would like to see a little more of Egypt than Cairo; then this is the perfect tour for you! Tour company operator Heshsm is Super responsive and great at communicating. On time pick up at Hotel. Our tour was run by Bassem Khames. He was extremely knowledgeable and very funny! Great mood through out the entire day allowing it to be very enjoyable and our kids ( teens) to absorb a ton of facts and information. I would highly recommend this tour!! It will be the best money you will spend in a tour in Egypt!

A nice tour and experience for the price point. We purchased our own flights and selected the tour plus car option. We were pleasantly surprised about the cool AC-conditioned van for the two of us. The tour included a pick-up from the hotel and drop-off at the airport to Luxor. The tour guide was kind, and the driver was professional. However, we felt there was a bit of upselling in the tour, but nothing problematic. IA suggestion to improve services, be clear with guests from the beginning EXACTLY WHAT is included for lunch (as we were offered an upsell at $40 USD to upgrade on the lunch option which included a boat to the banana island) we went with a local lunch but were a bit disappointed. The traditional spaghettio-style noodles and rice felt a bit lacking. To be fair, it was prayer time so many places were closed for prayer. My only suggestion would be to make a clear differentiation between lunch options either with pictures, menus or on the website. Overall, a pleasant experience. I would recommend it.
