Itinerary
This day trip from Prague to Kutná Hora meets at the Czech Railway Main Office (České dráhy), located in the center of the Prague train station.
Set out to explore this historic city on foot, starting by the Sedlec Ossuary. Learn how the town grew after the establishment of the Sedlec Monastery, a sanctuary for Cistercian monks, in the 12th century. Head inside the Sedlec Ossuary and gape at the macabre, bone-made interior. Inspect the chandelier and furnishings made entirely from human bones, and hear how the interior contains the skeletons of around 40,000 people. As you take in the bone creations, you’ll understand completely why the ossuary draws flocks of visitors.
Next, head for Kutná’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, a treasure chest of medieval architecture.
Visit the magnificent Gothic Church of St Barbara and marvel at its echoing interior, replete with frescoes that show medieval miners. As you walk round, hear how the church was dedicated to St Barbara, the patron saint of miners, and was part of Kutná’s efforts to rival Prague.
After, delve further into the romantic streets and squares, passing gems such as the Italian Court — the former Royal Mint — and the fortified Hrádek palace.
Your tour ends back in Prague, when you say goodbye to your guide at the station.

I didn't like how rushed it all was. 20 min to look around, and 10 min to do stuff on your own is not my idea of a good time. The trip needs to last a little bit longer. But Oliver was a great guide. So no complaints there.
Fascinating trip. Wish we could have heard the guide. We had a large group, and there was quite a bit of traffic and other background noise.
Dear DayTrip6, Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. I’m very glad to hear that you found Kutná Hora fascinating, although I’m sorry that you had trouble hearing the guide during your visit. With around 20 guests, the group was at the size we normally find works very well, and our guides are very experienced in handling groups and keeping the tour running smoothly. They are also used to speaking clearly and projecting their voices, so it’s disappointing to hear that the noise made it difficult for you to follow the commentary. From what you describe, it sounds like the traffic and background noise were particularly loud that day. Unfortunately, that is something we cannot control, but I completely understand that, from your side, it doesn’t make it any less frustrating when you are trying to listen to the guide. We really appreciate you mentioning it, and we’ll continue to be mindful of where we stop and how we position the group when the surroundings are especially noisy. It’s lovely to hear that you still found the trip fascinating. Kutná Hora is a special place and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we’re proud to make visiting it easier for our guests. The journey and logistics can be quite complicated to organise independently, so having an experienced guide take care of everything makes a real difference. Thank you again for joining us and for being honest about what could have been better. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your day in Kutná Hora and took away some great memories from the visit. Best wishes and safe travells, Ewelina SANDEMANs Team
It was not a great experience. Got rebooked to later time and the tour didn't start for nearly 40 minutes since the scheduled time. It was horrific experience to board the train as it was super crowded. Very overpriced as well. Wouldn't recommend it.
Dear Nagarajan_C, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry that your day did not turn out the way you had hoped. We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to arrive expecting a relaxed and enjoyable day in Kutná Hora and instead have a difficult start with the train and a very crowded journey. We would just like to share a little more context, especially for other guests reading the review. Problems like this with the trains are extremely rare for us. In fact, this was the first time we experienced a situation like this, which is why we were also very disappointed that it happened on your day. We put a lot of personal effort into this tour. Our guides are people we know and trust, and we choose them because they genuinely care about the guests and about showing Kutná Hora in the best possible way. They work under a lot of pressure when something unexpected happens, doing their best to keep everyone informed, comfortable, and in a good mood even when the situation is not in their hands. Of course, we understand that as a guest, you shouldn’t have to worry about any of this. You paid for an enjoyable day, and we’re sorry that the transportation problems affected your impression of the whole experience. At the same time, we want to be honest that this is a public-transportation tour, and occasionally things can happen that even we cannot control. One of the reasons we like this experience, though, is that it gives people a chance to see a different side of the Czech Republic and experience how locals actually travel outside Prague. It’s not a private bus tour — it’s a real Czech day trip, with the train, the countryside, and of course the incredible history and atmosphere of Kutná Hora waiting at the other end. We are also already working on an improvement. In the coming months, we plan to start working with another train company that should provide a more reliable and comfortable journey. We hope this will make the experience even better for our future guests. Regarding the price, we understand that value is very personal, especially when one part of the day doesn’t go as planned. What we can say is that we put a lot into this tour beyond simply getting from Prague to Kutná Hora. Our guides, the organization, the local knowledge, the stories, and the care we put into the day are all a very important part of what we are offering. We’re truly sorry that your experience was not the one we wanted you to have. We respect your feedback and certainly won’t ignore it. At the same time, we hope this one unusual experience doesn’t discourage others from visiting Kutná Hora with us. It really is a beautiful and fascinating place, and on a normal day, this is a tour we are genuinely proud of. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to hear your side of the experience. We appreciate it. Best wishes, Ewelina
Our guide Pavel was outstanding! Incredibly knowledgeable and a good storyteller of all things Kutná Hora. The tour of the Bone Ossuary as well as the Cathedral were excellent. When our train was delayed (no fault to Pavel), he made lemons out of lemonade and gave us a tour of an additional cathedral. He had a delightful sense of humor and was attentive to all guests and questions. The restaurant he took us too was delicious with and wonderful outdoor courtyard garden. Pavel is also communicative via WhatsApp and made sure to leave no one behind.
The tour was excellent. It’s a whole lot more than what I expected!!! Our guide “Gabby” was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, patient, accommodating and fun. Here attention to details should be given it’s on special Trophy 🏆 I personally want to thank you again. Side note—-to Gabrielle. Thank you Gabby for all your assistance ….my refined has been processed.😊🕺😊 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Tee Jay Trapp
This was the best tour experience we’ve had! Kunta Hora was beautiful but our guide Oliver was wonderful. He kept everything on time down to the minute, was organized and super knowledgeable. The meeting spot directions couldn’t have been easier either. 10/10 would highly recommend.
I’d been wanting to visit the ‘bone church’ for literally decades and this trip was perfect for it. The thing that really made the day great was our tour guide, Oliver. He was so informative and engaging. Even our 12 year old enjoyed the tour and she is not impressed by much at this age.
Everything was well organized from Pavel, would like to have more time in town. The leg cappella was incredible to see, sad but understandable that we could not take pictures inside there. Good authentic food and nice atmosphere with a lot of knowledge and expertise in the guide.
Panel was friendly and I didn’t get lost. Wish I could’ve taken pictures in the bone chapel but I understand the policy of the place. I saw a lot, learned a bit, and killed an afternoon. The place we stopped for lunch was delicious too!
First u take the train which has no ventilation Then another train. Then you walk and climb close to 100 stairs. Process repeats itself along with an added bus ride. A lot of walking
Dear Aline_r, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the journey and amount of walking during the tour did not meet your expectations. We understand that the combination of train rides, walking, stairs, and the bus journey can feel demanding, especially for guests who are not expecting this level of physical activity. We appreciate you highlighting this, as it’s important that travelers have a clear understanding of the itinerary and what the experience involves before joining. We have shared your comments with our team, as guest feedback helps us improve our tour descriptions, communication, and overall operations. We continuously work to make sure our tours, guides, and itineraries provide the best possible experience for our guests. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour that better matches your expectations and travel style. Warm regards, Tricia | SANDEMANs Team
