Croc Country Safaris is more than just a transfer—it's a locally guided experience that takes you deep into the heart of the Adelaide River wetlands. Guests will enjoy a scenic drive with wildlife sightings, live commentary from Territorians, and stops at the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise and land-based barramundi fishing. Designed for families, adventure seekers, and nature lovers, our air-conditioned safari bus makes the journey just as memorable as the destinations. We start early to catch peak wildlife activity and return by mid-afternoon, giving you the best of the Top End in half a day.
In demand: 27 of the next 30 departures are already sold out.
From the operator’s live schedule on Viator, checked Oct 11.
Our next stop takes us into the wetlands at Fogg Dam, one of the Territory’s best spots for birdlife and wildlife viewing. This reserve is home to thousands of native birds, waterlilies, and a variety of reptiles – all thriving in a spectacular floodplain environment. It’s a great chance to stretch your legs, take in the scenery, and capture some photos of the Top End’s rich natural diversity before heading back on the bus.
At Adelaide River Cruises, guests will board a shaded, open-air boat and cruise along one of the Northern Territory’s most crocodile-rich waterways — right at the gateway to the sprawling Adelaide River wetlands. Here, they’ll witness the infamous Jumping Crocodile Experience, where powerful wild saltwater crocodiles like Brutus and Dominator launch from the water in an incredible display of strength and agility. Along the way, travellers can expect to see: Towering pandanus trees and mangrove-lined riverbanks Native birdlife including white-bellied sea eagles, kites, jabirus, and kingfishers The cruise is not just thrilling — it’s educational too, as expert guides share stories about crocodile behaviour, territory, and their role in the wetland ecosystem. This is the closest and most raw crocodile encounter in Australia, offering unbeatable photo opportunities and a rare glimpse into life on one of the Top End’s wildest rivers
On this stop we’ll visit Hooked on Barra, a purpose-built fishing facility designed to give everyone a chance at landing a barramundi. With two stocked ponds and all gear provided, it doesn’t matter if you’re a keen angler or a complete beginner – the friendly crew will have you casting in no time. It’s a fun, hands-on experience and a chance to try your luck at catching one of the Territory’s most famous fish before we continue our journey.

Highly highly recommend! Easy pick up, friendly guys who knew their stuff. Saw lots of crocs. Loved it! Thankyou
This was by far our fav experience in Darwin! Our host Daz was hilarious and kept us entertained the whole way. He really made the day with his positive energy and humor. I went with 2 children and a friend so it was enjoyable for all ages. Highly recommend. We added on the barramundi fishing after the croc tour and we think this really finished off the experience on a high. Highly recommend
Bus pick up with Daz was on time, he was polite to me but rude to a person who enquired if this was their tour he was then rude to another person where it was apparent English was not their first language; and they were seeking reassurance. I found his rudeness unnecessary. Daz has a very dry sense of humour that would not be ok for everyone. I did not feel comfortable when he jokingly told us his desire to win some money so he ‘wouldn’t be driving the f…n bus’. I understand he was being humorous but it didn’t sit well. He was able to share a bit of info which was interesting but the sarcasm was a basic underlying theme that became boring. At the wetlands, we were encouraged to hop out of the bus and take a photo of a croc in the water, the distance from the water being less than 2 metres. As someone who is not from here; and; being told to keep a 6 metre distance I found this confusing and remained in the bus. After a drive through the wetlands, we went to the jumping croc cruise. The skipper, John was awesome, he was very knowledgeable, great on safety and showed us how passionate he was about crocs. I would not book with the transport company again but the jumping croc cruise was excellent.
Hi there, thank you for such an honest, detailed review, it's exactly the kind of feedback that helps us improve. I'm the skipper on the cruise, so it means a lot that part of the day landed well for you, but I also own the transport side, so Daz being short with a couple of guests sits squarely with me to fix, not something I can wave off as someone else's team. There's no excuse for it, especially with someone just after reassurance or someone for whom English isn't a first language. Daz is genuinely great at what he does and guests love him most days, but that doesn't make it okay when the humour tips the wrong way, and I'll be addressing it with him directly. I also want to follow up properly on the wetlands stop and the distance you were encouraged to get to for a photo. That doesn't sit right with me either, and I'd rather look into exactly what happened than guess at it from here. If you're able to send through any photos or details from the day to admin@croccountrysafaris.com.au, that would really help us review it properly and make sure it's not repeated. This is a new venture for me and I'm building it to be better than the old-school Territory tour experience, not a repeat of it, so a review like this genuinely helps. Thanks again for taking the time to write it. John Croc Country Safaris
We had a great time experiencing and learning about the many crocodiles on the river. Sean our boat guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. Daz our bus driver was also knowledgeable and attentive. Fishing for the barramundi was also fun. Thanks again, Bob K
Pickup was convenient on time. Carl was knowledgeable and humouress and offered plenty of local knowledge. The operators took our safety very seriously and we all felt safe in capable hands and a sturdy boat. The experience was what Id hoped for and it was fantastic to see Australian wildlife up close and personal. A snappy beer at the Humpty Doo hotel finished off a great day out. Highly recommended tour for all sorts of families/couples and solo travellers.
Very disappointed. We were up early to be picked up at scheduled pick up at 7:30am. After waiting 30 mins and three phone calls we were told they missed picking us up and were already on their way to the destination and could not come back. Unusual they didn’t have to check a list of customers. Or did the company forget to add us to the list. Very unprofessional either way.
Had a great day Daz picked us up 7.30 am he was very knowledgeable and a bit of a comedian took us to to see the jumping crocs we stopped in the wetlands on the way John was our guide for the jumping crocs again he was very knowledgeable I think the crocs knew him tbh they came when he called was a great adventure then we went Barramundi fishing that was the highlight of my day I managed to catch 3 and one was the biggest in the pond Big thankyou it certainly made our trip fun Keep up the good work guys
Hi mate, We're very happy to have been able to showcase the best of what the Darwin and NT has to offer, and glad you caught it in its prime. Thank you for the kind review and safe travels!
