On this relaxing sightseeing tour we’ll start with a visit to Aphrodite’s Rock, the fabled birthplace of the Greek goddess of beauty. Our path then takes us to the Kourion archaeological site. Visit the Roman baths and amble through the site’s centrepiece, the Greco-Roman theatre where concerts are still being held to this day. Moving onwards, we visit Kolossi Castle, a former Crusaders' stronghold. It was built in the 12th century and is historically known for the production of Richard the Lionheart’s favourite wine, Commandaria. We’ll journey on to the mountain-wrapped stone village of Omodos and enjoy a guided walk along the narrow cobbled streets before a visit to the majestic monastery of the Holy Cross, one of the oldest monasteries on the island. We cap off the day in style with a tour of a local winery where delectable wines will be uncorked for you to sample.

The Cyprus Heritage Experience in Peyia was the absolute highlight of our trip to Paphos. We learned so much about traditional Cypriot culture, craftsmanship, and local flavors. Warm hospitality, amazing hosts, and memories that will last a lifetime!

Great heritage trip!
This trip is really good value! Eva our guide and Jani our driver were friendly and knowledgeable. Pickup time and location well communicated. Our party ended up being maybe 15 people and the bus was new and air- conditioned. I had mainly booked initially for the Kourion archaeological site and Kolossi castle aspects but Oomodos village was delightful and the winery was a revelation with a really delicious wine tasting. Extremely good value trip, strongly recommend!

Cheap and easy way to see the sights
A cheap and easy way to see the main sites. You are crammed into a large bus with lots of other people but that's our fault for not realising that before booking
Operator response
Thank you for your review! We’re glad you enjoyed seeing the main sites and found the tour good value. As mentioned in the tour description, this is a shared coach excursion, so there are other guests travelling together. We always try our best to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Cyprus!

A flavour of Cyprus
A good value day out. Ably led by Eva and driven safely by Vas. A good mix of history. Greek mythology with a photo stop at Aphrodites Rick. Onto Kouria archaeological site. Quite a lot under wraps because of restoration which was a shame, but the views were fantastic. Then Kolossi Castle, medieval history. Onto Odosso village and church. Tip: go off the main drag for lunch (which is a bit touristy). We found a super taverna off one of the side streets, with local Cypriot dishes. 😋. Then finally, it was a visit to a winery, which was great fun. The owners, two brothers, of which we met one. He gave a down to earth talk and thrre was generous tasting. We were quite pickled! Little snacks laid on. There was no pressure to buy, but of course, we did. A very good day out. Thank you Eva, thank you Vas.

A great experience. A glimpse of the heart of Cyprus
Starting off in Paphos picking up from hotels then following the old Paphos/limassol road to our first stop Petra tou Romiou (Aphorodites Rocks). We learnt from guide Eva that Aphorodite emerged from the surf by the rocks. After a brief stop for photographs we then continued towards Limassol. We then proceeded all the road past Episkopi garrison part of the Sovereign base areas (British Military). Then we headed towards Kourion an ancient hillside settlement. We visited the Theatre and also some excavations. It was very informative with some great views over the bay. They were preparing for a musical event which is a highlight during the summer months. We re-joined the coach and made our way towards the village of Kolossi. We learnt about the history of the area and why Kolossi Castle was built. We also learnt about Richard the Lion heart. We had time to visit the castle and have a drink at the café. Getting back onto the coach we headed inland up towards the village of Omodos. We could visibly see how much devastation wild fires had caused earlier this summer. The scenery was like it was caught in shadow yet on closer inspection we realised it was charred remains of trees, bushes, vines. It looked devastating and then a glimmer of hope with areas of green emerging. We then arrived at the beautiful village of Omodos. A village that is close to my heart. We visited Georges bakery we had samples of goods to try and taste including Nuts, bread and Olive oil. We then passed into the shop were we could buy from the small shop. We then went to the Church which reportedly hold parts of the cross and also part of the rope that bound Jesus's hands. After our visit we went to a restaurant to enjoy a drink and something to eat. It was then back to the coach for our visit to Gerolemo winery. I am not a wine lover but found the tasting session incredible. We were lucky enough to have our tasting session guided by our of the two brothers. His enthusiasm and friendliness was evident. He was doing something he loved, his passion. We tasted a few wines including Commandaria and the spirit Zivania. They have a website for those interested in wine. It was an enjoyable experience. We then made our way back to the bus and headed back to Paphos the sun was getting lower setting the scene with a golden glow. The experience was a great introduction to Cyprus. A big thankyou for our driver Andreas nicknamed "sexy Andreas" by our guide Eva. Eva is a historian full of knowledge and stories. She is a gem and sums up the warmth of the Cypriot people. A great Experience
