Description

Experience Cozumel the way we'd share it with friends visiting the island — in a small group of no more than 8 guests. Join a small-group food tour through downtown Cozumel, tasting authentic Mexican dishes at local spots while discovering the stories, culture and everyday life behind them. We intentionally keep our groups small so there's time to talk, laugh, ask questions and actually get to know each other. This isn't about rushing from one tasting to the next — it's a relaxed three hours of good food, conversation and discovering a side of Cozumel most visitors never experience. Whether this is your first visit or you've been coming to Cozumel for years, we want you to leave with great memories, new discoveries and the feeling that you spent a few hours exploring the island with local friends.

10/10 Experience

This was a 10/10 experience. Julio is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We booked this experience with him instead of booking an excursion with our cruise and have no regrets. Getting to and from the port was super easy with a taxi. Julio made us feel safe walking through the town and took us to the best food spots!

Operator response

Thanks so much, Soraya! I’m really glad you chose to spend part of your time in Cozumel with me instead of doing a traditional cruise excursion. It was a pleasure showing you around town and sharing some of my favorite local food spots. That’s what I love about this Cozumel food tour—getting away from the typical tourist experience and discovering the island through its food, culture, and local neighborhoods. Thanks for the 10/10, and I hope to see you back in Cozumel someday!

After 5 Years of Traveling Together, Dad Finally Loved an Excursion!Enjoyed!

After 5 Years of Traveling Together, Dad Finally Loved an Excursion! My dad and I have traveled together for about 30 days every year for the past 5 years. So when I say this was the first excursion he has ever genuinely enjoyed, understand that this may be the highest praise I could possibly give! 😂 Dad normally dreads anything I book that resembles an organized excursion. This year, I decided to plan our trip a little differently. Instead of filling our days with the typical tourist activities, I started choosing experiences around the things he actually enjoys: food, local markets, meeting people, and really experiencing the places we visit rather than simply seeing them. This experience absolutely nailed it. It never felt like a traditional excursion. We explored the local market, learned about the history and culture, visited small local places, tasted different foods and treats, talked with people, and got to experience everyday life in a way we never could have figured out on our own. Our guide was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable, funny, personable, and incredibly easy to spend time with. He shared the history without making it feel like we were sitting through a history lesson. More than anything, he gave us the kind of local knowledge you simply can't get from a guidebook. One thing I especially appreciated was that he genuinely looked out for us. While we were shopping and exploring, he helped us understand what things should cost, whether a price was reasonable, and when something was simply too high. We didn't have to wonder if we were paying a fair price or getting the “tourist price.” That kind of local insight was invaluable and allowed us to relax, interact, shop, and enjoy the market without worrying about whether we were being taken advantage of. And then came the real miracle: my dad was actually having FUN on an excursion I booked. 😂 He was engaged, asking questions, trying things, laughing, talking with our guide, and genuinely enjoying himself. After 5 years of traveling together and knowing how much he normally dreads excursions, I knew just how unusual that was! These annual trips with my dad aren't about checking destinations off a list. They're about spending time together, experiencing different cultures, eating great food, meeting people, and making memories. That's exactly what I was hoping to create when I planned this year's trip differently, and this experience gave us exactly that. If you want food, markets, history, local culture, conversation, laughter, and the feeling that you actually experienced the place rather than simply visited it, BOOK THIS. And if you're traveling with someone who normally hears the word “excursion” and immediately starts plotting how to get out of it, apparently we've finally found the cure. 😂 One of the absolute highlights of our trip, and after 5 years of traveling together, that's saying something.

Operator response

Alecia, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I have to tell you, I had such a great time with you and your dad too! Knowing that he normally avoids organized excursions and actually enjoyed this one made me smile—and yes, I’ll happily take that as a huge compliment! 😂 But what I enjoyed most was simply watching the two of you together. I truly admire the relationship you have—traveling together, discovering new places, trying new food, laughing, meeting people, and sharing these adventures year after year. That is something really special and unique. Those are the memories that stay with us. Thank you for letting me be a small part of one of those adventures. It was a pleasure showing you a more local side of Cozumel, but even more than that, it was just great spending time with both of you. I sincerely hope our paths cross again someday. Keep traveling, exploring, and enjoying life together—you two have something very special! Julio

An awesome local experience

What a great time we had with Rolo!! He is such a great guide and knows the best spots! Rolo is very knowledgeable about the history of Cozumel. The stories he told us were engaging and very interesting. Rolo is super friendly and funny and showed us a really great time. The food was wonderful and getting to walk the city was a really cool thing to do. We enjoyed a local game of Loteria which was fun! The tour was very laid back which we appreciated. Thank you Rolo for a wonderful evening and experience!

Operator response

Thanks so much, Jen! We’re so happy you had such a fun evening with Rolo. It sounds like you got the full experience—great local food, interesting Cozumel stories, plenty of laughs, and even a little Lotería! That relaxed, friendly feeling is what we love about our Cozumel food tour: walking around town, discovering local spots, and experiencing the island more like you’re out with a friend than on a typical tour. Thanks for the wonderful recommendation, and we hope to see you back in Cozumel!

A walk in the city and a fun mountain trip

We had the option to buy a trip on the cruise boat MSC. But my daughter surched on line and found your trip. So we decided to go with your tip and we had a great time. Your guide was very nice and told us a lot about Cozumel. He also was a diving instructie so he and my daughter had that in common. I can recommend the tour because it was a small group and that made the experience even more enjoyable. As we got a opportunity to ask lots of questions And when in a small group you have a better connection. I grade your tour as very very good and recommend this tour.

Operator response

Thank you so much, Barbara! We’re very happy that you and your daughter found us and decided to explore Cozumel with us instead of booking through the cruise ship. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the small-group experience and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and learn more about Cozumel. We also love that your daughter and Rolo, your guide, had diving in common — Cozumel is definitely a great place to share that passion! Thank you for your kind words and for recommending our tour. It was a pleasure having you both with us, and we hope you took home some great memories of Cozumel!

Educational and Good Food

Julio was very knowledgeable about the history of the island of Cozumel. It was a very interesting and educational tour and the food was an added bonus and allowed me to try things I wouldn’t normally eat. Julio went above and beyond making sure we had all our questions answered. I highly recommend this food walking tour of the island with Julio!

Operator response

Cozumel Food Walking Tour

I had an amazing experience with Julio on the Cozumel Food Walking Tour! He was not only knowledgeable about Cozumel’s local food but also the history taking us to several historical sites on our way to several local restaurants for some delicious local food. Between all the different tacos we tasted, I find it hard to pick just one! I wish there had been time to try everything at each restaurant we stopped at. I’ll just have to go back. Time went by too quickly with Julio as our guide! He definitely kept us entertained! Even a fun game of Lotería! If you have a chance to do a tour with Julio do it! Don’t hesitate! I look forward to my next visit to Cozumel & will definitely go on another tour with Julio!

Operator response

Thanks so much, Cindy! It was such a pleasure spending the day with you. I'm so glad you enjoyed exploring Cozumel's history, tasting so many local favorites, and even joining in a game of Lotería along the way! I love creating a local food experience in Cozumel that goes beyond just great food—sharing the island's culture, history, and some of the places locals enjoy most. It means a lot to know you're already planning another visit. I'll be ready to show you even more hidden gems and, hopefully, help you discover a new favorite taco next time. See you again soon!

Fantastic Food Tour with our Family!

We had a fantastic time on this food tour! Rolo was personable, friendly, and a lot of fun. He did a great job mixing local culture and history, starting with the town square, before taking us to some incredible food stops. Every bite was delicious, and we got to experience places we never would have found on our own. It was a great experience for our whole family, from our 10-year-old to the adults. If you're visiting Cozumel, I highly recommend this tour!

Operator response

Dear Terri, thank you so much for your kind words. You have such a wonderful and lovely family—I had an amazing time with all of you. Please continue enjoying the island, and if you need anything at all, we’re here to help. Sending you a big hug!
