Explore fine, mature trees and shrubs dating back to the mid-19th century, as well as hidden gems such as the Elias Stone Garden, the charming Kitchen Garden and a Paul Bangay-designed interpretation of a classic perennial border. These gardens are lovingly maintained by our dedicated Head Gardener, a team of five gardeners, and a passionate group of volunteers.

We highly recommend the garden tour!
We were lucky enough to be the only 2 booked in for last Sunday's garden tour with Kay. The tour lasted about 45 minutes and was very enjoyable, it was at a calm pace that mostly kept to shady areas and provided plenty of opportunity to ask questions. The tour covered the main areas of the garden and provided history of the various areas of the garden and grounds surrounding the house including the large kitchen garden. It was particularly interesting to hear about how the gardens were managed back in the day. We did discuss a few plants along the way but this tour's focus is more on the garden spaces and their history (rather than being a botanical tour). We booked ahead for this tour which is only running on Sundays at 11am. National Trust members can attend the tour for free. We think it would be fun to tie this tour in with a tour of the house on the same visit to get a complete perspective of the history of the house and its grounds.
