TOUR DESCRIPTION: Step inside one of Europe's most iconic cathedrals, 600 years in the making, and unlock the stories carved into its stones. Your journey opens with the cathedral's history, then pauses at the portal, where sculptures retell the Bible and medieval life. Then into legends like St. Ursula's martyrdom, and the lesser known Rights of the Jews plaque. The climax is the breathtaking Shrine of the Three Kings, believed to hold the relics of the Wise Men. Perfect for travellers who love history and stories.

This tour begins at the entrance of Cologne Cathedral, where you'll discover its remarkable history and architectural journey. You'll then explore the detailed reliefs on the portals, uncovering the stories they depict. As you step inside, the tour guides you through the cathedral’s awe-inspiring stained glass windows, sacred relics, and the tombs of influential counts and archbishops—each with its own story and significance. You’ll learn why these figures were laid to rest here and how they shaped the city’s past. The tour concludes at the very place it began: the grand entrance. Magnificent and very educational!! Totally recommended!!
¡Muchas gracias por su fantástico comentario! Nos alegra mucho que la encontraran tan didáctica y magnífica. Esperamos verles pronto en otro tour de Tourific.
The audio guide does have some interesting facts, but I am pretty sure that the person behind it used AI to write it. Not only is the audio read by an AI voice, but the tour itself uses a lot of superlative words and sometimes begins to describe something only to neglect to describe parts of it. For example, it would start describing the different panels in a stained glass window, but then neglect to describe others. Occasionally it would repeat certain details, not to call back to them but to plainly stating them again. Also, it was pretty hard to follow the guide when the remains of the Magi were locked in an inaccessible area. Mind you, I wouldn't really have minded the use of AI if it had been advertised, and I think that this guide might still have some value. However, I would be lying if I said there wasn't a lot that could be improved upon. Also, if you want a closer look at the remains of the Magi, you're best off booking a real guide anyways.
Thank you for your feedback, and please accept our sincere apologies for the frustrating experience. To clarify, our audio is narrated by AI simply to ensure clear delivery and keep personal accents from getting in the way of the story, but the actual content and research are created entirely by our human team. For the stained glass windows, we intentionally select specific panels to highlight for a broad audience rather than detailing every single one, though we will certainly review the script to clean up any repetitive phrasing. We try to be upfront by announcing the AI narration in our very first audio stop, where we also mention our full refund policy for anyone who is unsatisfied. Please reach out to us directly, and we will be happy to process a full refund for you.
This audio package was easy to download and included clear maps, photos, and an interesting explanation of each stop. This is a great alternative if you want an interactive alternative to a cathedral tour.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're so glad the clear maps, photos, and interactive format worked so well for your cathedral tour. Hope to see you on another Tourific walk soon!
Access to Cologne Cathedral was not possible with the code received
The guide is easy to use and convenient. The information is well-structured. It is actually very focused on the stained-glass windows. I would recommend detailing the general history of the cathedral and its construction more.
La guida è facile da gestire e comoda. Le informazioni ben strutturate. Effettivamente è incentrata molto sulle finestrate. Consiglierei di dettagliare maggiormente la storia generale della cattedrale e della sua costruzione.
Audio tour of Cologne Cathedral was really good. Lots of really interesting information, easy to follow & had a map & photos so you knew where you were going.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback! Glad the Cologne Cathedral tour's map and photos kept things easy to follow, alongside all the interesting information. Hope to see you on another Tourific walk soon.
negative: We could not look at the cathedral portal outside due to the crowd of people. We practically had to go into the cathedral immediately after showing the tickets. positive: Very precise description and background information on the individual works.
We had a good experience either the Koln Cathedral audio tour. We also did a rickshaw tour for 2 hours.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the Cologne Cathedral audio tour. We look forward to welcoming you on another tour soon.
The app and photos should be downloaded in advance. It’s very hard to follow and I’d suggest printing the map to have as a visual once inside. Info is interesting but I’d pay a few euro more to do the official guides tour. The Cathedral is spectacular and I did learn a lot and loved going at my own pace, once we could figure out where each photo was located.
Hello We apologise for the issue. Our team is working to add walking instructions to the audio file so it will be easier to find the locations in the Cathedral. Again that you for the feedback and we remain committed to improving the tour. Thanks Tourific Team
