Itinerary
We begin in Preseren Square, the beating heart of the city. We learn basic history of Ljubljana before we explore the different sights that are located at the square.
We learn about France Preseren, a truly colorful figure whose poetry inspired the nation during the Romantic days of the 19th Century. Find out why he was no Romeo and why we consider him to be our national poet.
Find out about our most famous architect, Jože Plečnik, whose works are considered a UNESCO heritage site, and who is responsible for Ljubljana looking as it does today, and why we have a Triple Bridge in the center
Ljubljana's Colonade is one of Plečnik's most amazing creations. Its an enormous structure that holds many secrets and surprises.
Also known as the love-lock bridge, Ljubljana's most recent bridge is a modern spectacle that does not resemble its original plans. Find out why.
Despite having dragons on it, it wasnt originally called the Dragons Bridge. Find out why.
The best place in town for local produce
It might be small in comparison with the larger cathedrals in neighboring countries, but it does have amazing history and is the pride of Slovenia's Baroque architecture.
The central square of medieval Ljubljana. Its gotta have some amazing stories.
Ljubljana's most famous Baroque artwork stands in Town Square. Does it look familiar?
This architecturally confused building is where city politics have been taking place for over 500 years.
Ljubljana's old Medieval town is one of the sweetest around. Cant miss it. Actually, most of the sites we see on-tour are in the Old Town, so saying its 30 minutes is not quite right.
One of Ljubljana's favorite meeting points, this former Medieval shopping mall has a few stories to tell.
Abound with symbolism and hidden meanings, this is one of Plečnik's most famous creations. It has some amazing stories to share, in fact too many for a single tour
Ljubljana's largest square is also its most political. It is the location of many historical events that shaped Slovenia and Europe as a whole.

This was such a great history tour that explained so much about Slovenia's history and about the main areas of Ljubljana. Marianna really knew her history and delivered it with passion, enthusiasm and such positivity. I loved it, got many tips of where to visit, eat and walk. I came away with some knowledge.
A great tour just the right amount of info and humour. It is actually a free tour which you tip for at the end. I paid A$26 thru Viator but not unhappy with that as it was good value.
Hi Thanks for the review. True, when we do not have enough guests for dedicated group, we merge group with our tip-based tour, while paying customers such as yourselves are requested not to tip. The average tip is about the same as Viator pricing as we make sure that prepaid customers do not pay more. Hope that explains :)
Great introduction to the City with a knowledgeable Guide. He provided this for free so you can book through Viatour for a fee or walk up and pay tips.
Thanks for the kind review. We do sometimes mix groups, but guests who pay for this tour in advance are not requested to leave any tip unless they insist :)
Somewhat large group but the guide Tina handled it well. She was informative, entertaining, and helpful. Good tour to view the highlights of this beautiful city.
Thanks for the honest review and sorry if the group size was a bit too much. Not sure which group that was so cannot really comment why this happened, but we do try to keep groups at a good size compared with other companies.
What a fantastic and inexpensive way to learn about Slovenia’s capital. Ingrid was a particularly charismatic and knowledgeable guides. She had an answer to every question and was so approachable. She earned her top and then some. I would recommend this tour to everyone who was coming to Slovenia.
Thank you for the wonderful recommendation! We’re delighted Ingrid’s knowledge, charisma, and friendly approach made the tour so memorable.. She is indedd so passionate
We had a blast with Anja, she was really nice and charismatic and the tour was very interesting. Hvala.
Prosim. Thank you for joining and mentioning Anja's guidance. She does appreciate each review
Tita was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide and it was a great experience. I have no complaints about the content of the tour but I have to say I don't like the "free" marketing scheme, where they put advertise as free and put pressure on you to tip. In that case, I would prefer that they charged a minimum fee that covers the basic expenses. I don't want to exploit anyone, but they should not say something is free and at the same time explain to us that they need tips to make a living.
Thanks you for the honest review and mention of the good quality of tour. Otherwise, 2 clarifications we must make: 1) I assume you were merged into one of our tip-based free tour groups. We do this when there are not enough people for independent groups. However, when we do this, we do clarify that guests who paid in advance (Like Viator guests) do not need to leave any tip, and I am certain this was conveyed to you as well. 2) Your comments regarding free tours suggests you are not familiar with the free tour industry that has become one of the largest in Europe over the past 20 years, with over 2000 companies in Europe alone. Free tours is the accepted industry name given to tip-based tours. The "tips" you mention are indeed the only income guides get and they do not work for free, and yes, everyone is expected to tip unless they paid in advance. The price stated on Viator is roughly the average tip.
Very informative tour. Lana is a very knowledgeable guide.
She is indeed and yes, we do provide far more content than other companies. We're not sure why they dont.
Our tour guide Luci was friendly, funny and extremely passionate and informative. We loved her and thoroughly enjoyed our tour, would 100% recommend!
Amazing and extremely passionate are words we love to hear. Thank you !
Helena came up with the humour as well as the knowledge. It was a very well worthwhile 2 hours. Ljubljana is a superb city and Helena's tour lept voming up with gems of information.
.... and there is still so much more to tell. Thanks you for mentioning the content and Helena :)
