No 10 Downing Street vies with the White House as one of the most important buildings in the world. Churchill and his wife moved into No. 10 Downing Street in June 1940. It has been the official residence of the Prime Minister since 1735. The door that Winston Churchill walked through as Prime Minster in 1940 is on display in the Churchill War Rooms.

Maps still bristle with pins, telephones sit silent, and even sugar lumps—saved for a precious cup of tea—remain exactly where they were left in 1945. The CWR were then abandoned, and time stood still, preserving this extraordinary bunker as one of Britain’s most important WWII sites.
