Chivavecchia Shore Excursion Local Market with Wine and Cheese

Description
Step off the ship and straight into real Italian life with a relaxed foodie experience just minutes from Civitavecchia’s port. Wander through backstreets and small piazzas, and see how locals actually start their day in this Mediterranean town. At the lively local market, you visit carefully chosen family‑owned stalls and taste what Italians really buy for their tables: pizza and focaccia, olives, prosciutto sliced to order, porchetta, creamy mozzarella di bufala, aged Parmigiano, and salty Pecorino Romano, naturally paired with a glass of local wine for a true Italian aperitivo feeling. To finish, you enjoy gelato at a beloved shop founded in 1949, still run by the same family using the same recipes and the same love for the craft. Close to the port, perfectly timed between breakfast and lunch, and designed as an intimate food experience rather than a standard tour, this is the perfect choice if you’ve already seen Rome and want to taste Italy where locals live.

This is a must do! Amazing and authentic Italian experience. Just a tip- come hungry Georgiana is exceptional
I highly recommend this experience! Georgiana was highly informative and super friendly. Because the group was so small, we got so much out of it. We especially enjoyed the local market experience, with so many delicious local tastings. Meeting the friendly faces behind the small Italian businesses at the market made the experience even more authentic and memorable. Every stop was different and taught us something new about the Mediterranean cuisine, culture, and all with so much insight . We would definitely book this experience again! Grazi Georgiana
This was hands down one of the best experiences we had in Civitavecchia. The small group made it feel so personal and special, and we loved how many different types of food we got to sample. Everything was fresh, delicious, and authentically local, and we left feeling like we really got a taste of the REAL ITALY. We learned so much about the food, the culture, and the area itself. If you’re looking for something memorable, intimate, and genuinely local, this is absolutely the experience you want to book.
I almost didn’t book this because I thought I’d explored enough on my own. I was wrong. This experience gave me access to places and stories I would never have found alone. Compared to wandering and guessing where to eat, and what to see ,this felt curated, purposeful, and incredibly rewarding.
Such an UNFORGETTABLE experience!! We’ve traveled a lot, and this was one of the best tours we’ve ever done. Georgiana is kind, knowledgeable, and so passionate—she made the experience so enjoyable. We felt completely immersed in local life in Civitavecchia. And the food—SOOOOOO MUCH FOOD! We highly recommend
We’ve done a lot of cruise excursions, but this one stands out. The focus is on flavor and preserving the local culture. We tried different cheeses, prosciutto, fresh fruit and a tiny tasting of giusti balsamic that completely redefined “vinegar” for us. Mamma Mia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amaretti from Di Bella and gelato tasted like vacation in a cup. 👏🇮🇹 Grazie Georgiana!!
We had always thought of this town as “just the port,” but after this tour it feels like a real destination. Tasting local products, while hearing the stories behind them made the place memorable. The vendors at the market were so friendly and welcoming .. we felt like locals doing what locals do. Now when we look at our cruise itinerary, we see this stop as a highlight, not just where the ship happens to be.
We had a morning to fill before boarding, and this food tour was exactly what we needed. In just a few hours we tasted more variety than we would have found on our own: tomatoes with real flavor, different selection of pizza, creamy and aged cheeses, porchetti , and a couple of small Italian cookies. By the time we got on the ship, we felt like we’d already started our culinary journey.
Anyone who loves food tours must book this one! Georgiana told us a lot about Italian culture and the food was super! Whether pastries, cheese, pizza, ice cream....It was a delight for the palate. Thank you Georgiana, for this great time at the market and the super food from the local vendors.
I booked this for my disembarkation day, and it was the perfect way to fill some time before my late flight . There were no big sightseeing missions, just walking, tasting, and talking. We tried fresh fruit, cheese, pizza, proscjiutto , porcheta and some other Italian bites , then finished with gelato and maritozzo. Georgiana added so much insight into the Italian culture…it was amazing! I really want to go back there!
