Great bike ride around Central Park. Dan was our guide, had interesting information about the park, landmarks and buildings nearby. Would definitely recommend that you include this tour in your itinerary.
We went on this cycling tour so we could see more, in a limited time, of Central Park. This proved to be the case our guide was brilliant. The only down side was that we should have taken ebikes as Central Park has more hills than we expected. The bikes also wern't the best and some more care could be taken with there upkeep but that didn't detract form the overall experiance.
At pickup place no restroom, place to sit and the staff (not our guide) seemed to have a " I really don't want to be here" attitude. This is a bike tour and I should have known somthing was up when we WALKED or bikes 3 blocks. There was a lot more walking/standing around then we would have liked. Our guide was awesome My partner overheated and we bailed out halfway through. The trip back to the bike barn, as we didn't know where we were, took about 45 minutes on busy NYC streets. Not sure I would recommend this for people over 60.
The ride was great and Joe was so knowledgeable, it was raining which was fine but when it started thundering we had to head back to the shop and cut the trip short. I would recommend this bike tour through Central Park.
Excellent way to experience Central Park. Thomas our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and showed us some great spots in the park that we would have missed on our own. There were plenty of stops to explore some sites. Overall great experience
Great tour of Central Park, well-paced and the few inclines were manageable on the hybrid bikes provided. Alex our guide was great, fun and took great photos. He was very informative about the city, park, and buildings.
Overall had a good time, but next time would skip the tour and just rent bikes. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but had an agenda and many things he wanted to tell us and places to go - but our group was on the bigger side, maybe 12 of us and included some less experienced, nervous young teen riders. The guide said he would go at an easy pace, but would take off with the faster part of the group. Once he had to ride back for us because at a fork in the road we had no idea which way the group had gone. By the time the last of us arrived at many of the stops, we had missed most of what he was pointing out and talking about because everything seemed in a rush and he didn’t wait for everyone to arrive. He also wasn’t the best at making sure the group was able to turn and follow him safely in busier areas of the park, and I often stopped to let locals pass and apologized because it seemed like our group was cutting people off and going in a couple of places that we should have avoided. If our group had all been experienced, responsible riders familiar with signaling and riding in busier areas, this tour would probably have been much better. Our guide really could have improved everything just by adjusting his tour to the riding level of the group so that we could stay together and actually experience more of what he wanted to show us.
Thank you for the detailed feedback. We're glad your guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but we're sorry the pace didn't work well for a group with mixed riding experience, especially with younger, less confident riders. You're right that the guide should have adjusted to the group's level so everyone could stay together and take in what he was sharing, and we're concerned to hear about the safety issues navigating busier areas of the park too. We'll share this directly with our guiding team so we can address pacing and group management going forward. Thank you for taking the time to write this out so thoroughly, it's genuinely helpful.
You must navigate 3 blocks in Manhattan before reaching the park. It is safe though. Central Park tour is relaxed, safe and informative. Our guide, Benjamin, was a nice guy and gave some good stories about its history and cultural significance.
The guide Dominique was more interested in the external buildings around the park than showing us the actual park. he spoke for 15 minutes about the central Park Tower, and it's architecture, how many floors it had and how it moves in the wind and his friend that lived there which meant that we missed stopping at the castle & strawberry Fields. This experience was the polar opposite to my experience with Karla who was my guide four weeks prior. She was brilliant and I was hoping to show my friends the same experience. The office did offer us to come back and use their bikes for a self guided tour, but we did decided to walk to the areas missed and ended up having the best day in the park accessing areas you cannot ride through.
Had a great tour through the park. Chuck was a fantastic guide. Knowledgeable and friendly. Went a little over the two-hour window, but that's because we had a talkative group.
