Simply Great Experience.

A first rate experience and excellent value for money. Our interpreter "Moonflower" had great language skills, was friendly and professional translating also for the chef, lovely Della. We had fun making the noodles and enjoyed eating the super yummy Lagman. It was good to take such an active part in the entire meal preparation, which is not always the case in cooking classes. Interestingly this traditional dish was the most popular with our subsequent tour group at a banquet which included about 10 different dishes. Whole heartedly recommend this cooking class.

Fun but overpriced

The cooking class was quite fun. The chef was very friendly and showed us the steps on how to prepare Lagman. Due to the language barrier, no history and cultural background was shared and it was not always easy to follow her instructions, but she tried her best. You will cook in a kitchen just next to the Apple Hostel, which belongs to a canteen where you will also enjoy your meal after preparation. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed cooking Lagman, which is the most important thing, but in our opinion it is quite overpriced for what you get in return.

Operator response

Dear guest, Thank you so much for joining our Lagman cooking class and for sharing your honest feedback! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience overall and appreciated the chef’s friendliness and guidance. We’re sorry that the language barrier made it difficult to share more of the history and culture behind the dish — usually we provide a translation along with the history - I'm still investigating why that was not the case during your master class. I would be happy to offer you a partial refund since we were not able to offer a full experience. Best Aigul

Fun! Worth it. But also a bit disorganized. When we arrived, the woman in charge was going around frantically confused that so many people signed up. The cook in the kitchen would really rather not do “class” and would rather just cook herself. Hahaha. But all 3 of my kids got hands on cooking and got to see what it was like in a real kitchen. They made noodles from scratch, which they loved. And they were given hats as presents after they ate the Lagman they made. So it was great in the end. Would recommend.

Operator response

Dear Alex, Thank you so much for your review, and sorry for the confusion. It was lovely to have your family over, thank you very much for coming. Take care and all the best, Aigul

Lagman

We made layman together which was interesting. I had never been to a cooking class before so assumed they would make and we would watch. It was nice to actually do it ourselves

Our goal is to create an interactive and engaging environment where everyone can learn by doing, so it's great to know that the class exceeded your expectations. The class is well priced and was absolutely delicious! It’s a hands on cooking class with mama chef guiding you proper techniques on how to make this dish! The excellent things for us was having an English translator and stepping us through everything. I’d highly recommend doing the class, Im really looking forward to sharing and recreating this dish when I’m home! Now we can take a taste of Kyrgyzstan with us and have wonderful memories when eating it!

Good times, good food!

We had a really great time cooking the Lagman with the chef and where joint by a lovely woman that translated for us as well. The dough was already made, but we made the lagman and the rest of the dish. After cooking we of course ate the dish and it tasted amazing if we say so ourselves :)
