This is a fun tour that takes you to some areas of the island that visitors usually cannot access. Do not take this tour expecting to see tons of bison or other wildlife. it is a wonderful and fun time and the guide we had was excellent, very knowledgeable about the island and its activities. The ride is a bit bumpy and dusty but it's all part of the great fun to be had in this tour!
This was such a memorable experience and I would recommend it to anyone. We met our tour guide within walking distance of the main street in Avalon. From there, he took us all around the island in search of bison herds. Our driver, Michael, was an excellent guide, sharing a lot about the history of the island. He went above and beyond to make sure that we saw bison. We even saw some foxes and a deer. Overall a fantastic experience.

We booked the Bison Expedition through Royal Caribbean as something to do while our ship was in port. It was a fantastic time! Our tour guide, Rob, was extremely informative and entertaining! We saw 13 bison and 3 foxes. My husband and I and our two adult sons (28 & 37) all agreed it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had on a shore excursion!

Not only was the Catalina Bison Expedition educational, but our tour guide Justin also made it thoroughly entertaining. Our small group of six was lucky enough to have Justin to ourselves, which made the experience feel much more intimate. He shared fascinating information about the bison, the foxes, the Wrigley family, and Catalina Island itself. It was a fantastic tour and two hours very well spent.
