During the tour of the island by boat you will see the marvelous White Grotto which extends for 30 meters and takes its name from the color of its rocks: an extraordinary pure white. Inside, the waters form two small lakes communicating through an artificial channel carved into the rock. In Roman times it is said to have been used as a shelter for boats, but if you look carefully you will notice that the white walls show some signs of the passage of man: in the seventeenth century the population took refuge in this cave to hide from pirate attacks! Our boat captain Mattia was wonderful. He was attentive, safe and set a positive tone w the day. He showed us all the interesting sights around the coastline of the entire Island of Capri. Well, an amazing time or skipper. Alex was the best very knowledgeable of the area. My daughter who is afraid of both said Alex was the best captain and he alleviated her fears.
Alessandro took us out on an amazing ride. He was friendly, knowledgable, helpful, flexible, and made for a truly individualized experience. As we made our way around the island he did a great job of ensuring we weren't waiting around in boat lines for attractions (coves), and made great use of the time on board. The only way to experience this island for the first time is by boat, and I would not waste the time going into port in the busy season. Stay on the boat (except maybe for lunch), and spend the time swimming, snorkeling, and sightseeing!
