Kaymaklı Underground City is one of the largest and most intriguing underground cities in Cappadocia. Carved into soft volcanic rock, it dates back to the Hittite era and was later expanded and used by early Christians as a place of refuge during times of persecution and invasion. Spread over multiple levels, the city includes narrow tunnels, living spaces, kitchens, storage areas, and even a chapel. A visit to Kaymaklı offers a captivating journey through its maze-like passages, providing insight into the resourcefulness and resilience of its former inhabitants.
Pigeon Valley is a picturesque destination in Cappadocia, named after the numerous pigeon houses—known as dovecotes—carved into its cliffs. For centuries, these structures were used by locals to collect pigeon droppings, which served as a valuable natural fertilizer for nearby vineyards. Today, the valley is popular for its scenic hiking trails that offer panoramic views of Uçhisar Castle and the region’s unique rock formations, including fairy chimneys. With its blend of natural beauty and cultural history, Pigeon Valley is an ideal spot for hikers, photographers, and travelers looking for a tranquil outdoor experience.
Göreme Open-Air Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most renowned landmarks in Cappadocia. This monastic complex, carved into volcanic rock, features a collection of rock-cut churches, chapels, and monasteries with frescoes that date back to the 10th to 12th centuries. Once an important center of religious life during the Byzantine period, the site provides insight into early Christian monastic traditions in the region. Visitors can explore these historical cave structures, view remarkably preserved biblical frescoes, and appreciate the spiritual and artistic heritage set against Cappadocia’s unique landscape.
Paşabağ (Monks Valley) is a well-known site in Cappadocia, celebrated for its remarkable fairy chimneys featuring multiple rock caps, formed through centuries of natural erosion. The area takes its name from the hermit monks who once sought solitude here, carving simple chapels and dwellings into the volcanic rock formations. Today, visitors can walk among these striking geological structures while gaining insight into the region’s volcanic past and monastic traditions. The valley’s distinctive landscape and historical significance make it a compelling destination for both nature lovers and cultural travelers.
Avanos is a historic town in Cappadocia, widely known for its long-standing pottery tradition that traces back to ancient civilizations, including the Hittites. Located along the banks of the Kızılırmak River—the longest river in Turkey—Avanos is famous for its distinctive red clay, used by local artisans to produce handcrafted ceramics. Visitors can tour traditional pottery workshops, observe artisans at work, and even try shaping clay themselves. With its artistic heritage, riverside charm, and vibrant local culture, Avanos offers a memorable cultural experience in the heart of Cappadocia.
Uçhisar Castle is the highest accessible point in Cappadocia, providing sweeping panoramic views of the region’s valleys, fairy chimneys, and distant volcanic peaks. Carved into a natural rock outcrop, the castle has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a watchtower and place of refuge. Visitors can explore its network of tunnels and stairways leading to the summit, where the expansive views—especially during sunrise or sunset—offer a striking perspective of the surrounding landscape.
Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is a unique area in Cappadocia known for its unusual rock formations shaped by natural erosion. Unlike many other valleys in the region, Devrent does not contain cave dwellings or historical structures, offering instead a landscape where naturally formed rocks resemble animals and imaginative figures. One of the most recognizable formations is the camel-shaped rock, but visitors will find many other shapes open to interpretation. The valley is a popular stop for photography and offers a fun, creative experience for visitors of all ages.
Love Valley is a striking natural area in Cappadocia, recognized for its tall, pillar-like fairy chimneys formed through centuries of erosion. The valley gets its name from the symbolic shapes of these rock formations, which have become a popular attraction. With scenic hiking paths, panoramic viewpoints, and tranquil surroundings, Love Valley is a favorite destination for hikers, photographers, and travelers looking to enjoy Cappadocia’s distinctive landscape—especially during sunrise or sunset.
Göreme Panorama is one of the most accessible and well-known viewpoints in Cappadocia, offering wide-ranging views of the region’s distinctive rock formations, fairy chimneys, and cave dwellings. This elevated spot is popular with photographers and nature enthusiasts, particularly during sunrise and sunset, when the soft light enhances the natural colors of the landscape. Whether you're capturing photos or simply enjoying the scenery, Göreme Panorama provides a memorable vantage point for experiencing Cappadocia’s unique terrain.

If you come to Cappadocia, this is a must-visit tour! The guide is very kind and will teach you carefully in Japanese. It is so difficult to understand in English. They'll tell you where to go.
It's a very nice trip. I put it in a place where you can't usually enter with a Japanese guide. If you come to Cappadocia, this is the tour you should take. (It was 60 €.
For those of us who can't speak movies, it was very reassuring to have a guide in Japanese. We also learned about history and enjoyed sightseeing very much:)
It was a thrilling experience and fun! Juice and it was delicious! Thank you for taking my picture too! They were so kind and guided me in Japanese and I enjoyed it!
I don't understand Turkish or English, so it was great to have a guide in Japanese. I asked him to explain the history of Turkey in detail. He was a very friendly and kind person who showed me around with peace of mind. Thank you very much ☺︎
It was all good. It happened to be a private tour because there was only one participant. They take a lot of photos and suggest a cheap way around.
We received a last minute call from the company of the Japanese tour booked with Get your guide that a Japanese guide was not available, and we asked the hotel to arrange it for us and we were taken care of on the tour here. I heard it was a group tour but in fact it was a private tour (we were the only ones), so I think it was a reasonable deal to pay 45 yuro + admission ticket for each facility separately. Ramazan's Japanese guide was very easy to understand and I could understand the history and background! However, it's a good idea to go back to the Chut-Chu-Iku Juuta and Hoseki stores.
Sami is a GREAT tour guide. He is so friendly and kind all the time. He explained everything with detail and gave us amazing recomendations of restaurants or bars. Definitely, highly recommended!!!
