Capitol Reef Photography Tours

This was by far my favorite session with Hunter, although I loved the sunrise and sunset sessions as well. I highly recommend utilizing his equipment to get the best photos. It was easy to get to the photo sites and include interesting parts of the landscapes into the Milky Way photos. Hunter’s enthusiasm for photography is contagious and he patiently guides you. Complete beginners can feel comfortable participating in these sessions.

Hunter is an extremely knowledgeable photo tour guide. He is passionate and affable. As a professional photographer, I was looking for some unique images of the Capitol Reef area and he delivered. My sister, who is not an experienced photographer, also came and he helped her out with composition and settings throughout our full day tour. It is obvious that he invests a lot of time into exploring the landscape and finding unique and interesting spots. When we asked to photo a slot canyon, he took us to one that no one else had been in for days. Getting to photograph a slot canyon without any footprints was a definite plus. Before our arrival, the area was experiencing wildfire skies and the smoke was impacting photo opportunities, clearly. Hunter kept me abreast of the situation and scouted a number of sites to see how the smoke was impacting them. He goes the extra mile, arrives on time and has excellent knowledge of the area. I highly recommend his tours!

Hunter was fantastic! We have a budding 14 year old star photographer in the family. He was patient and provided lots of instruction. Our whole family had fun tagging along and doing mini night hikes.

We had a great time and came away with a much better understanding of how to take a picture at night, along with awesome photos of the Milky Way! Hunter helped us all with the mechanics & the composition, and we all had different cameras, even an I-phone!!

We had a great time on our Capitol Reef Photography Tour! Hunter picked us up and took us to several spots with great scenes and photo opportunities. We worked multiple compositions at each spot. Hunter's instruction and tips were super helpful and on point. Definitely worth it whether you're an experienced photog or a relative beginner!

Hunter page Hunter is a highly experienced, very professional, and exceptional teacher. He has been accessible, friendly, and flexible at all times during my trips. I saw the Bentonite Hills on my first evening, and then we did a half-day trip to Cathedral Valley on my second day, exploring the northern reaches of the valley, which were especially scenic and well worth the visit. Hunter impressed me with the breadth of his knowledge—both of the local photographic sites and in interpreting the landscape for strong compositions—along with his creative skill set and wide-ranging expertise. He teaches with clarity and effectiveness. These were not simply photography tours, but more like mini-workshops, offering extensive opportunities to learn, for which I was very grateful. I previously completed an astrophotography evening with Hunter a year ago, which was also excellent and may interest any photographer looking to expand their knowledge in that field. I highly recommend Hunter to anyone engaged in photography, whether just starting out or working professionally. ⸻

Awesome day with Hunter! I did a full day tour in Cathedral Valley and Bentonite Hills. I would consider myself a beginner and he was so helpful with tips and hints. He showed me things on my camera that will be useful as I go explore. His teaching style is great, and he knows the area very well. He is very receptive to any questions you have. Great conversation as we would drive to our next stop. I will definitely use Hunter again on different adventures! If you want to experience Utah's beautiful splendour, do not hesitate to Hunter.

Had a great photo tour with Hunter to Moonscape Overlook for sunrise. It was easy booking with Hunter, he picked me up from my hotel and we headed off to the overlook for some photo action. The landscape beyond the overlook is completely unworldly, alien plane-like and makes for very interesting shots. Hunter is able to provide as much or a little assistance as needed - no surprise that my best shot came from a setup location he recommended!

We enjoyed our experience with Capital Reef Photography Tours. The amount of stars Hunter taught us to capture was just amazing! Hunter was also very attentive to each individual and their needs. Would recommend!

I joined an astro/night sky photography tour this past April and had a fantastic experience. Hunter is an extremely experienced photographer and a patient, approachable teacher who’s easy to learn from. I picked up a lot about astrophotography, and the locations he chose within the park were excellent. He also made sure I had plenty of personal input throughout the tour, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely return for another tour and am already planning my next trip!
