Canyoning and Arenal Rafting (COMBO TOUR)

What an incredible experience! Absolutely worth the fee, but be aware that it’s quite the workout. We met at the office at 9:20 AM, drove in the van to the site (40 minute drive), did the falls/hike, had lunch (1:40 PM) and returned at 3 PM. Our guides, Arturo and Saul, were so kind, patient, and helpful. They made us feel safe the entire time and nobody was pushy about making us the final falls if we weren’t comfortable. 8/10 of our group did the final one, which was SO awesome and intense. My recommendations: WHAT TO WEAR- wear closed-toed sturdy shoes that will get wet (sneakers are great). I wore long exercise pants/leggings, and several people in my group who wore shorts mentioned they wished they would have worn longer pants due to the harness, potential bug bites, and cushioning against the rocks as you rappel. Wear a longer tank top or short sleeve shirt, not crop top. Get the yellow helmet that tightens with a dial, more comfy than the red ones. WHAT TO BRING- waterproof phone bag to hang around your neck. They have them there to rent for $2, but bring your own and place it down your shirt as you rappel. Towel and change of clothes for afterwards so you’re not chilled in the AC van. Your things will stay at the restaurant while you do your adventure. They have everything else you need there. GET READY TO- Hike up intense mountainside. It’s muddy. It’s steep. The hike was wayyy harder for me than the rappelling. Similar to the La Fortuna/Blue Falls style of hiking so get ready for that. Hold the rope in your dominant hand near your hip as you rappel! So many people held the rope way too high. Your guides will explain it too, but remember that. All in all, would totally recommend and do this again. If you’re in decent shape and like an adventure, do it!! Ask your tour group people and guides to take your pictures and get ready for a blast! Also the food was super yummy, very nice after an intense workout.

We had a brilliant experience with ABC Canyoning. Our guides, Grey and Saoul, were friendly and professional throughout. Grey made us feel completely safe and secure, especially while rappelling down the waterfalls. The beautiful scenery and exciting adventure made this one of the highlights of our trip.

Colon was fantastic, made the adventure fun for the kids and adults. Very knowledgeable about the wildlife and the river. He made it a great experience for all and all of us said it was our favorite adventure of the week.

Best of the best. Alex and Greg gave us a fun canyoning tour. So much fun! I would recommend this to anyone looking for adventure.

Our family of 6 had an amazing experience with ABC Canyoning. We are an adventure-loving family with four teenage boys from Colorado. The tour did a great job of giving us several different waterfall experiences building up to the final, optional 5th waterfall. There is plenty of opportunity to skip the final waterfall, but it is NO JOKE- and perfect for adrenaline junkies! We never felt unsafe at any point, but it we did feel that we really had the freedom to actually try to repel on our own and not just be lowered down the waterfall by the staff without any work on our part. It was perfect and so much fun! Finished up with a delicious lunch at the facility. The drive to get to the canyoning location also took us through a beautiful area of Costa Rican countryside.

Super fun experience. The guides were so fun, friendly and helpful. I’m 47 and not super athletic and was able to ungracefully complete all five waterfalls. It’s a must do in Costa Rica. The lunch at the end was a treat and so delicious.

What a terrific experience! Our guides, Arturo & Grei, are absolute professionals! We all felt very safe. The farm in which the Canyoning took place has a family and a kitchen! They cooked us lunch and made us feel welcome. It felt like a big family hangout. Such great people!! Thank you!!!

An amazing combo day tour with canyoning/rapelling followed by white water rafting! Well organised by ABC Canyoning and Arenal Rafting and great food provided throughout!! Went with our 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter and they were well looked after! Highly recommend. Jaime (from Colombia!) was fab at Arenal Rafting

booked a tour through this company, and paid extra for their Full Refund Policy, which states: “By paying this insurance, you will be able to cancel the tour without giving any reason for doing so. Receiving 100% of the amount paid at the time of reservation. Please Note: This refund only applies if cancellation is requested one hour in advance before the tour start time. If cancellation is not informed to our booking department on time, the booking will be consider as "No Show," so it wont be refundable.” I pulled a muscle during an earlier excursion, but had been improving, so I was optimistic I would be in good shape before the canyoning tour. I purchased their add-on refund policy just in case. Unfortunately, after the long drive from the coast to La Fortuna, I woke up the next morning in so much pain I was barely able to walk. I reached out to them to cancel as soon as I woke up, which was several hours before the tour start time, and was told I can’t just cancel without justification (even though their policy states otherwise). I explained my situation and was told they would send it to management to process. I received an email confirming the cancellation, but no refund, so I followed up again through WhatsApp to let them know. They stopped responding to any of my messages at this point. So, just a heads up for anyone thinking of using this company. They don’t honour their own policies and then ignore their customers.
