Itinerary
The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island.
Ancient Corinth was inhabited in the Neolithic period (6500-3250 BC) but the big prosperity begins in the 8th century. Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus (canal) of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta.
Visit the Chambers of Wonder of the Kapsia cave which is one of the 10 most impressive caves in Greece and ranks among the top 100 that have been deemed suitable for exploitation from a total of approximately 7500 nationwide.
OPTIONAL: wine tasting at one of the many wineries in the region of the tour. The Nemea area of the Peloponnese is Greece's most famous wine area. The approximate cost of the wine tasting is 15-20 EUR/person plus the cost of the extra time/travel.
Lunch & drinks! An important part of all our tours!
OPTIONAL: A Paradoxical church at a great location opposite ancient Mantinia
Positioted 31km southwest of Corinth, Ancient Nemea was once the venue for the biennial Nemean Games, held in honour of Zeus. Three original columns of the imposing 4th-century-BC Doric Temple of Zeus survive, and the on-site museum displays rich finds from the area. The stadium where the Games were held is nearby; once connected to the sanctuary by a sacred road, it plays host to the resurrected Games.
OPTIONAL: Acrocorinth, "Upper Corinth", the acropolis of ancient Corinth, is a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient city of Corinth. It is the most impressive of the acropolis of mainland Greece. With its secure water supply, Acrocorinth's fortress was repeatedly used as a last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entry by land into the Peloponnese peninsula.

Had a great day with Theo as our guide! Saw the Canal, the beautiful countryside, dipped our toes In the sea, took a cog rail train ride followed by a lovely lunch and a tour of the Cave of the Lakes. We highly recommend our guide Theo who was very knowledgeable, lots of fun and a great driver too!
Thank you very much for the great review!!
This tour is highly worth it! You get to experience a some hidden gems of Greece! The temple of Apollo was so interesting and esucational, train was beautiful and an amazing feat. The mountain towns you drive through are so fun and quaint with amazing food. The caves are stunning and a must see. Such a unique experience. Also, our tour guide Theo was so knowledgeable and fun to talk to. He is an archeologist and studied ancient history… what more could you want out of a tour guide. I would do another tour with him in a heartbeat.
Thank you for taking the take the time to review us! It's very much appreciated and very important for our boutique agency since collecting reviews when you only do "private tours" is a difficult task!
I booked this trip from Canada before we arrived in greece. I was very quickly was contacted by the owner, Nikos to arrange the excursion. Nikos continued to be very communicative and also kept us informed as to what to expect and who our driver would be. We went on this full day tour, with Theo as our guide. We were picked up from our hotel, and began our journey. Theo was very friendly and answered all of our questions ... There were many! The entire day was filled with beautiful scenery, endless history and absolutely delicious food. The only downside is we eventually had to end our day and say goodbye to Theo!!! Thank you Nikos for the wonderful opportunity and big thank to Theo for being such a wonderful travel companion! -Bethany and Ryan From Canada
Bethany and Ryan. This is a very to-the-point- review and a great review too. Theo had a very easy day with you two :) THANK U very much!
Our party of 4 women loved everything about this trip! Our guide, Theo, was a perfect gentleman and very knowledgeable. Our 1st stop was the Corinth Canal which surprised us by its depth and imagining the incredible effort to dig such a canal. The ancient site of Corinth was also very impressive. It was a very large site with many structures and a museum with many statues and artifacts. My favorite part of the day was the Kapsia Cave. The stalagmites and stalactites were breathtakingly beautiful and the site was so well done with background music and lighting . At lunch, we asked Theo to order for us. Everything was so delicious. Finally we went to ancient Nemea. Again the incredible skill in constructing the pillars, tunnels and statues was quite overwhelming. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has a free day while visiting Athens.
Thank you very much, ladies. It is great to have such reviews and special comments from our clients.
