Good way to entertain family for 3hrs

Spent 3hrs at the aquarium in August. Quite a queue to get in, even just 30mins afrer opening, so we were glad of booking entry in advance. Reasonable cost for tickets, we had a voucher so just over £100 for 4 adults and 2 children which felt about right for the time we spent and what we saw. Aquarium is beautifully kept, very clean and welcoming with friendly helpful staff on the counter, in the talks and at the gift shop. Really interesting exhibits and themeing thought the site, finding out not just a out fish but other animals and plants in different areas of Australia. Talks were educational and interesting and we loved seeing the divers interacting with the fish during feeding times.

Good Experience but is expensive

This was a surprisingly good display tracingmarine life from the rivers to the sea cycle of fish and reptiles. Exhibits were well explained This was a display for all ages Certainly worth a visit but at $61 for adults or n$$171 for a Family, its not cheap

Turtle Hospital is a "must" to visit

Keep children under control. There should be an age limit on the turtle hospital, perhaps the age 10 and up only. Our instructor Michael did an awesome job today, considering he had to deal with one very problematic child. Well done Micheal.

Excellent aquarium with knowledgeable guides

Very good aquarium with plenty to learn about the barrier reef and Australian wildlife. The talks that take place throughout the day are superb with very knowledgeable staff sharing lots of insights and details about marine conservation. Especially good on a wetter day. The big 10m marine reef tanks are just stunning.

Nice enough but way overpriced and weird open hours

My husband and I paid a visit here recently and whilst we did enjoy it, especially on a rainy day outside, we did think it was way overpriced for what was there. It would be a a very expensive outing for a family. I was expecting a larger space, it was just all fish tanks basically. The only impressive thing was the overhead aquarium. The gift shop left a little to be desired as well. I found their opening hours a bit weird too. Didnt open till 9.30 and we had plans for the morning, so thought we would spend the afternoon there. So after having lunch, and around 2pm made our way down there, only to find out they close at 3.30. Planning would be required to visit there.

The Cairns Aquarium is privately owned facility which means that we rely completely on admission sales to operate! Thank you for supporting us because it allows us to care for over 16 000 animals and employ over 60 staff across many different positions! We have 11 different ecosystems for our guests to explore from freshwater creeks to rainforest and mangroves working your way out to the reef and the coral sea! We are home to the largest freshwater tank within Australia and the tallest deep reef tank in the southern hemisphere! Once again thank you for supporting our facility! We appreciate each and every single one of our guests!

Lovely Aquarium

Wonderful aquarium. Area where kiddos can touch starfish. Great interactive exhibits for kiddos too - ones they can crawl through and into an open circle in the middle, etc. Would recommend bringing a snack.

Awesome underwater insights

This is a really high quality aquarium. Thoughtfully designed and showcases the incredible underwater life of a very special part of the world - the Great Barrier Reef and the tropical inland waters in the Daintree Rainforest and surrounds. We loved our afternoon visiting and highly recommend for adults and kids alike !

Add turtle hospital experience

Nice aquarium. We usually stop at one whenever we travel and this one didn’t have anything special except turtle hospital. I added the experience to our ticket and it was great! The hospital staff was so knowledgeable and we learned a lot. We could see injured turtles from up close and learn their story and progress. Loved it!
