Bucharest roots lies in a trading background, two centuries ago, one in four buildings in the old city center was a caravan-serai, today only three of them remain and this is one of them.
A century ago this was the financial district of Bucharest, you will be surrounded by the National Bank, the former Stock Exchange, The Palace of Trading and Commerce along with many other state and private banks.
90% of the Romanian people are Christian Orthodox and still we are quite a religious country, this monastery is and iconic monument which represents very well the features of the Orthodox heritage and architecture.

Still in the financial district, where there is a lot of money there has to be spending opportunities, Macca Villacrosse galleries were the golden standard in this sense.

Get ready to walk!A step into city's history and culture, through the street views, landmarks and buildings
There is a lot of walking so if you have a problem walking, this would not be for you. However, Radu was absolutely fabulous. In addition to having all extensive historical knowledge of the buildings, he added some comic relief which was quite enjoyable. I loved every minute of it.!
Lucia was a wonderful tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and keen to answer questions. We got a real sense of history, the trials and joys of life in Romania. Her tour was an excellent start to our holiday.
A very interesting and in deep tour...Edward was fantastic
Ed is a fabulous tour guide and amazing storyteller. He truly brought the history of Bucharest to life in front of our eyes! He explained the history through the architectural differences that can be observed so clearly across the city, sprinkling in lots of relatable and memorable stories. After 2.5h, it felt like we had had a tour through the centuries, a healthy walk, a decent overview of the most important sights of the city - and most importantly, we'd had a lot of fun and good laughs along the way! If you're in Bucharest, try to get on a tour with Ed, he's awesome!
Having eliminated my prejudices regarding Romania, I can state that the impact was quite positive. Fairly clean city, full of benches where one can sit, historic center very busy, particularly with young people. The Cafè Van Gogh is interesting, as is the Carù cu Bere, a three-story neo-Gothic restaurant, very characteristic even if more expensive than average. The Carturesti Carusel bookstore (with a bar on the top floor) is also beautiful to visit. The Palace of the Parliament is immense (one of the largest in the world). The Arch of Triumph and, a little further north, the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum are worth visiting. We also visited (with a well-organized 14-hour tour...) Peles Castle, very, very beautiful, and the so-called Dracula's Castle (Bran), definitely less exciting even if much older. The city of Brasov is cute. Finally, the Bucharest Therme are very beautiful (to be reached by Uber); a mega facility with multiple pools, indoors and outdoors, with hot water; perhaps one of the largest in Europe. We stayed in an apartment near the center, new, well-kept, clean, and equipped with all the necessary accessories for a stay (Aiastay Bucharest river apartments). We paid for everything with a credit card; we did not exchange currency. To conclude, Bucharest, while not having the appearance of a wealthy city, is nonetheless welcoming, very popular with tourists, and cleaner than many Italian cities; we never perceived any dangerous situations. The population is welcoming and helpful (no trace of the so-called nomads or Roma, who live outside the main cities anyway).
Ed was superb. Very informative and funny..
Was with Ed , took tour group through the lovely parts of Bucharest, very knowledgeable, interesting and was engaged through the whole tour , very much recommended
Ed was an excellent guide! He was really interesting, funny and told us a lot about Romanian history and architecture. He was really witty and never failed to intrigue us all through the 2,5 hour tour. The only drawback was that we had difficulty finding him at the meeting point due to many different (i.e. Erasmus students) tours starting from the same spot.
What an informative and excellent tour with Ed! It incorporated highlights along with historical facts and perspectives and it was more than I expected. Ed was outstanding all around!
