So much fun!

Loved the workshop! The chocolatier gave a thorough and clear demonstration of how to use the piping bags and the variety of shapes you can create. It was a really relaxed environment. 10/10

Good…but don’t set expectations too high

So it is less about making chocolate and more about how to make shapes out of the chocolate. The museum was good. Definitely something to do if you’re there for several days but I would bypass it if you’re there for one day

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the museum. Regarding the workshop, you are right that the focus is on working with chocolate and creating and decorating different shapes and chocolates, rather than making chocolate from scratch. The workshop is designed to give participants the opportunity to work hands-on with chocolate and be creative with it. Actual chocolate production requires specialised machinery and strict hygiene conditions, which is why this takes place in professional production facilities rather than inside the museum. We understand that, when visiting Bruges for only one day, everyone has to choose which activities best suit their interests. Thank you for including us in your visit!

learning and snacking on sweets - it hardly gets any better than that

A great museum with many insights into the production and processing of chocolate. The workshop was great and definitely worth the money. Besides the delicious chocolate, we are taking home only good memories. The only small catch: There are no lockable lockers on site. Only open shelves. Thankfully, however, we were allowed to leave our backpack behind the checkout counter. BTW: Consistently very nice and friendly staff with good explanations.

Operator response

Great fun for the family

Had a great time as a family decorating chocolate. You don’t learn about the chocolate making within the workshop you just get to create your own chocolate bars and shapes. Good fun and then you can visit the museum tour after - leave yourself plenty of time for that too as it’s quite detailed with an audio tour.

Operator response

We’re delighted to hear that your family enjoyed the chocolate decorating workshop and the detailed museum tour. The hands-on experience is always a hit with visitors, and we’re glad it added to your day. The audio tour through the history of chocolate is designed to be immersive, so we appreciate you setting aside the time to explore it fully. The Choco-Story Team

Nice and Tasty museum

A very nice museum, where you learn the whole history of chocolate. There is also a place to taste and we were allowed to attend a demonstration (of course tasting afterwards). The route is made clear by numbers, but you can decide where you will look. Fairly small souvenir kick, but plenty of variety.

Too Expensive and Instructors Had Poor Attitudes

I do a lot of viator experiences and many cooking ones. I thought this was disappointing. I guess it is partly my fault for not reading the reviews closely, and just basing my decision on the overall reviews. This is the chocolate museum in Brugge. I did not have any interest in visiting it. So you basically do a chocolate making experience with the staff at the museum. They are not good. Not personable. Not like cooking classes you have done before. It was large. I don't know. Maybe 20 people. I would recommend you look at another smaller more intimate experience not associated with the museum. 50 dollars a piece for the experience was way too high. This was like a 20 dollar experience, and that is generous. I might be somewhat biased, because I had just done the beer and waffle making class in Brugge that morning, and it was 100 times better. This was basically ok.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the chocolate workshop did not meet your expectations. Our workshop is designed as an accessible, hands-on introduction to chocolate making within the museum setting, rather than as a small, intimate cooking class. We understand that this format may not suit every visitor, especially those looking for a more personal culinary experience. We would also like to clarify that admission to the museum is always included in the workshop price. The museum visit itself takes approximately 90 minutes and includes several chocolate tastings along the way. We are particularly sorry that you found the interaction with our staff disappointing. Your comments regarding the group size, personal approach and overall value are important to us, and we will share them with the team as we continue to evaluate and improve the experience. Thank you again for your honest feedback.

Fun experience for all ages

Going in I expected a fun, if touristy, experience and got exactly what I wanted out of it a fun hour of playing with chocolate. You have access to three types of chocolate- blonde [caramelized white], milk and dark for your base plus about a dozen options for toppings plus designs you can trace on to your chocolate - you can make as much as you want in the time given and you get to keep the apron as well. Only complaint was that the workshop area while cooler than the rest of the museum by far, it was not cool enough - the blonde chocolate in particular has trouble setting (making it a race against the clock to ensure you could take it with you) and all the chocolate lost its temper. Hardly something I'm going to deduct points for, but if you were thinking of using the blonde chocolate I'd absolutely start with that first and the chocolates may not be as shiny as you expect. All in all though, a very fun activities for all ages - the 6+ rating seems appropriate for the dexterity needed.

Operator response

Thank you very much for your detailed review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the creative experience, the different types of chocolate, the wide selection of toppings and the freedom to make as many creations as possible during the workshop. We also appreciate your comments regarding the temperature in the workshop area and the difficulty of allowing the blonde chocolate to set properly. Under normal circumstances, our air-conditioning keeps the room sufficiently cool. However, we are currently experiencing an exceptional heatwave, which has made the workshop area warmer than usual and has affected the setting of the chocolate. It is wonderful to know that you found the workshop enjoyable for visitors of all ages. Thank you for visiting Choco-Story Bruges and for sharing these helpful tips with future participants!

Delicious activity.

My teenage daughter and I loved this activity. It was fun, engaging and well priced. Who wouldn't love chocolate and a free apron? I would highly recommend this experience.
