Description

The best meal in Sarajevo is not in a restaurant. It never has been. This authentic dinner experience welcomes you into a local Bosnian home for an evening built entirely around food, conversation, and the particular warmth that Bosnian hospitality is known for across the region. Your host prepares a seasonal home-cooked menu shaped by what is fresh and what your group enjoys — traditional dishes passed down through generations, served the way they were meant to be eaten. Expect slow-cooked meats, handmade pastries, homemade preserves, and desserts that finish the evening the right way. No shortcuts, no performance. Just a family table, opened for you. Dinner in Bosnia is never just dinner. It is how people here say welcome.

Dobrodošli u Sarajevu. Welcome to Sarajevo.

I have just moved to Bosnia, so this dinner was the perfect introduction to the country's culture and traditions. It was a wonderful experience to enjoy authentic Bosnian home cooking in such a warm and welcoming family atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and prepared with so much care. What made the evening even more special were the conversations around the table, the genuine kindness of the family, and the opportunity to practise a little Bosnian. I felt welcomed from the very first moment. At the end of the evening, the mother even gave me some homemade juice to take with me—a small gesture that perfectly reflects Bosnian hospitality. I couldn't have wished for a better welcome to my new home. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the real Bosnia beyond the usual tourist attractions. Operator response

Thank you, and welcome to your new home in Bosnia! Our home-hosted dinner in Sarajevo is exactly this: authentic Bosnian home cooking, family conversation, and real gostoprimstvo — Bosnian hospitality. The homemade juice to take home is tradition; no guest leaves a Bosnian house empty-handed. Whether you're a visitor or a newcomer settling in, this is the real Bosnia beyond the tourist sights. See you at our table again! — Almedin, Tallest Tourguide & Friends

A must-do experience in Sarajevo!

We had the most wonderful evening cooking and sharing a meal with Đula, Eda, and Almedin! Đula & Eda were amazing teachers and helped us learn to make Burek & Klepe. Not only were we able to eat the delicious foods we made, they shared many other tasty Bosnian dishes and coffee with us! Their lovely home has a beautiful garden as well. I highly recommend taking a cooking class with them, it was one of our very favorite highlights of visiting Sarajevo. Thank you all so much for the excellent class!

Operator response

Thank you so much! Đula and Eda loved cooking with you — burek and klepe made by hand in a family home is Bosnian hospitality at its best. Our Sarajevo cooking class is all about sharing a real meal, real coffee, and a real garden with guests. See you at our table again! — Almedin, Tallest Tourguide & Friends

Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the tallest tour guide

It was a fun and interesting experience. Meme was very knowledgeable about everywhere we went, giving us a personal experience but leaving us to explore the areas we visited by ourselves also. There was only two of us for the twelve hours we were with Meme which made for a very fun and interactive atmosphere.

Operator response

Ha, twelve hours and you didn't get sick of me — I'll take that as a win! Glad we found that balance, sharing the stories that matter to me about Herzegovina, Mostar, Blagaj, and Kravice but also just leaving you to wander and soak it in on your own. Two-person days are honestly my favorite — way more room for actual conversation instead of just reciting facts to a crowd. Come back and I'll show you the spots we didn't get to!

Fun Bosnian Dinner Night

This was definitely the highlight of our trip! We had several courses of food (cooked traditionally by a family member), chatted with a view on one of the many houses on Sarajevo’s hill, and learned about Bosnian culture. We had lots of laughs. We got to learn from our tour guide and his wife, and his mother. Such a fun, sweet, and memorable experience, make sure you book this!
