It's this deep love that fuels our desire to share with you this beautiful and intricately woven culture that is unmatched anywhere in the world. As residents and qualified tour guides with many years' experience, we will show you Bo-Kaap beyond the postcard pictures.

Bo-Kaap is a beautiful, quaint, and colourful suburb that nestles at the foot of Signal Hill in the City Bowl of Cape Town. Its history however is steeped in Slavery and it is also known as the ‘ Birthplace of Islam’ in the Cape. Enslaved people, artisans and political exiles were brought here from Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia amongst other places.

If you want to double click into this unique experience and move past the petty pictures, this tour is right for you! Explore the past and present on this tour, learning about and from the people as you move through the streets. I can imagine that no two tours are the same given this dynamic flow. I highly recommend if you’re looking for depth and substance to your experience.
Great tour and guide. A great history lesson about the region and the country. Highly recommend.
Shamiela was absolutely amazing with sharing the history of Bo-Kaap. Her knowledge was an inspiration for me and my husband to be able see why it’s so important for us never to forget the past. Also gave us deep understanding about the culture, language and food of this area. We highly recommend this tour.
My Bo-Kaap: Walk With A Local tour was outstanding. Ms. Shamila, my excellent tour guide, is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and through her storytelling, I learned a wealth of knowledge in a few hours' time. Learning about the origins of Bo-Kaap and experiencing its strong sense of community was truly admirable. Ms. Shamila reminded me that travel is truly the best education. This is a tour that will always have a special place in my heart ❤️.
We had a nice tour of Bo Kaap, and learned about the history, religion, and culture of the area, and our guide pointed out some nearby sites that we were interested in visiting.

Our guide Rafiq was amazing. We saw things, met local people and experienced the local food we never would have done if it wasn't for this tour!!!
