Blue cave & Hvar Town - 5 islands tour

Itinerary

Admission not included60 min

One of the most unique natural phenomena in the world, the Blue Cave will be a highlight of your holiday. With its silvery-blue color, created by light refraction of sunlight entering through a crack in the stone, it leaves nobody indifferent. It wasn’t until recently that the cave was open for public and it has been a must-see location ever since its opening. Travelers will have some free time on island Biševo and then they will go inside the cave with the small boats (not included in the price)

60 min

Komiža lies on the sunny side of the Island Vis and is well sheltered from cold northerly winds, in the bottom of the largest bay on the island and compacted within narrow alleys and slender houses. It is a famous place for its fishermen on the Adriatic and perhaps even on the Pacific. Komiža faces south-west, towards the open sea and its horizon is limited by two islands – Biševo and Svetac.Travelers have free time to explore, swim, have a breakfast, coffee etc.

Budikovac Island
45 min

Just around the corner of Vis, island Budikovac is situated. The Budikovac beach is better known as the Blue Lagoon, thanks to the crystal clear sea. The sea bottom is covered partly with sea grass and partly with sand and shells, which makes it perfect for sunlight to reflect the many shades of blue. Also, it is not very deep, which makes it perfect for swimming and snorkelling. We provide you the equipment for that, so your only care is to grab a mask and dive into the shades from navy to turquoise blue, accompanied by small fishes. In the high season if Blue lagoon is too crowded we will provide swimming in secluded bay on island Vis.

Stiniva Cove
15 min

Stiniva is small and tight bay on the island of Vis. It’s one of the most attractive places in Croatia because of its unusual beach. The bay is approximately 600m long, and the width of the bay is 100m. Stiniva bay is famous because it’s surrounded by high cliffs. If its not too crowded travelers will have free time for swimming, if its too crowded, we will stop for swimming at the more peaceful bay.

Pakleni Islands
Pass by

Pakleni islands are located off the southwest coast of the island of Hvar, Croatia, opposite the entrance to the Hvar (city) harbour. Usual local name is Škoji, which means Islands.

150 min

Our last, but not the least jewel in this trip is island of Hvar, on which we are visiting town of Hvar. The sunniest town in entire Croatia, with about 2700 sun hours a year, is also the biggest town on the island and a popular destination for various types of tourists. It connects the best of the past and present. There you can spend time walking around the old town area, having some ice cream, just to soak the rich historical heritage that finds its roots in ancient Greece and Rome. On the other side, it is also popular as a party destination with quality photogenic bars and cocktails on every corner all day round. And if those intense sun hours make you want to take a dip again, the beaches are also near the old town area! That’s why people can never get bored or get enough of Hvar.

Disappointing

Very disappointed that we did not get to see the blue cave as we went in the afternoon and not the morning as per the itenary so the tides/choppy sea prevented that. Most of the day apart from around 3-4 hrs was on the boat which was very uncomfortable as it was a fast speedboat and rough. Also missed out on visiting Stiniva Bay for some reason. I wouldnt take this tour again.

Beautiful discoveries

This day on a speedboat organized by Jelena and Kasimir, who were very friendly, allowed us to make swimming stops in a beautiful cove and a blue lagoon that were very enjoyable and splendid. The towns of Hvar and Komiža are sites to see. Finally, the very beautiful turquoise color of the Blue Cave is a very touristy spot (a rather quick and rushed visit).

Operator response

Complete boat trip departing from Brac (Bol).

For those staying in Bol there aren't many online tour options and I was very satisfied with this all-day tour, but it's not too tiring either. The interval between stops was good as was the time spent at all of them. Kazho and Karlo were great and the group had 11 people, easy for disembarking. I recommend!

Operator response

Great varied day, something for everyone and able to keep us happy (55 & 57) and the ones in their 20’s. Added an extra hour for enforced changes due to high winds. Great guys who made things relaxed but organised. Swimming in a Cold War destroyer tunnel a highlight.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 😊 We’re delighted to hear that you all had such a great and varied day, with something to enjoy for everyone. We’re especially glad that the whole group, from your 20s to your 50s, had a fantastic time! The strong winds meant we had to make a few changes to the itinerary, so we’re happy we could add an extra hour and make the most of the day. And swimming through the Cold War submarine tunnel is definitely a memorable highlight! 🌊🚤 It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Croatia for another adventure in the future.☀️

Refreshing, beautiful day

We did the Blue Cave/Five Islands tour with Captain Kazimir and Guide Jelena. The Blue Cave was closed the day we went due to sea conditions, but everyone on the boat had a better time without going to the Blue Cave, as we got a little longer time at swim points, more island viewing, we got to actually swim in a different cave, and we didn’t have to wait in a long boat queue for the Blue Cave. Captain Kazimir kept the boat ride safe and as smooth as a smaller boat can be on open water, and while he didn’t talk at many stops, when he did choose to talk, he was very informative, knowledgeable, and passionate about the sites and history he was describing. Hot tip: watch the HBO Documentary “Houston, We Have a Problem!” for some interesting and entertaining history about Tito, Yugoslavia, and the 1960s US space program. It could give you a little more context for some of the sights you’ll see on Vis Island:) Jelena did most of the guide work and made sure we all stayed hydrated. She was friendly and engaged, and clearly loves her beautiful country and is happy to share the love. I chose this company because I didn’t want to be packed into a boat with 50 other people, and this company’s boats hold 12. On our day, we only had six travelers, so we had tons of space to move around. It may be a little tight if all 12 are on board and seated (benches around the outside of the boat), but the benches are shaded, and there is space to lie down on a padded deck area on the back of the boat. They provide ample drinking water, pool noodles (foam floats), and masks. The water is beautifully clear, so if you want to snorkel, bring your own. Also, there is a stop for lunch, but it’s not until the last stop, so eat a hearty breakfast or bring some snacks. You’ll be hungry after all the swimming! The lunch stop for us was on Vis Island at Dal Mare, a seafood restaurant. I ordered the grilled shrimp and received what I would call langoustines—not what I was expecting or wanting, so just a heads up! Others at the table got the calamari, the risotto, and the steak salad, and all were reported as excellent. Overall: highly recommended trip, especially if you’ve been overheating in Split and want a refreshing, windy escape!

Operator response

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your Blue Cave & Five Islands experience with Captain Kazimir and Jelena! We are absolutely delighted to hear that, despite the Blue Cave being closed due to sea conditions, you still had such a memorable and enjoyable day on the water. Unfortunately, the sea is something we can never control, and the safety of our guests always has to come first. We completely understand that missing the Blue Cave can initially feel disappointing, but we are very happy to hear that the alternative experience turned out to be such a positive one for your group. Having more time for swimming, exploring the islands, enjoying the scenery, and visiting another beautiful cave can sometimes create an even more relaxed and authentic day on the Adriatic. And, as you mentioned, avoiding the long queues that can sometimes form at the Blue Cave is certainly an unexpected bonus! We are especially happy to hear your kind words about Captain Kazimir. The open sea can be unpredictable, particularly when traveling between the islands, so his experience and attention to safety are extremely important. We will be sure to pass along your compliments regarding his knowledge and passion as well. Although he may not speak continuously at every stop, we love that you noticed how much information and enthusiasm he shares when describing the places and history that are meaningful to him. And thank you for the fantastic documentary recommendation! Your suggestion about Houston, We Have a Problem! is a wonderful addition for anyone interested in learning a little more about Tito, Yugoslavia, Vis, and the fascinating military and political history connected with the island. Vis has so many layers of history that are not immediately visible when you first arrive, and having some background knowledge can definitely make the experience even more interesting. We are also very pleased that Jelena made such a positive impression on you. Keeping everyone comfortable, hydrated, engaged, and enjoying themselves throughout a full day at sea is an important part of the job, and it sounds like she did exactly that. Her love for Croatia and the islands is something our guests often notice, and we are happy that her enthusiasm helped make your day special. It is great to hear that the smaller boat was exactly what you were looking for. One of the reasons we operate with smaller groups is precisely so that guests can enjoy the islands without feeling like they are part of a huge crowd. Having only six guests on your particular departure gave you even more room to relax, move around, and enjoy the ride. We also appreciate you mentioning the different seating areas and shaded benches, as this can be helpful information for future guests when deciding which type of tour is right for them. Thank you as well for mentioning the equipment and refreshments we provide. Clear Adriatic water is one of the highlights of this trip, and bringing your own snorkeling equipment is indeed a great idea for anyone who particularly enjoys exploring underwater. There is so much to see beneath the surface, and even a simple swim can be an unforgettable part of the day. Your advice about breakfast and snacks is also very useful! With all the swimming, sunshine, fresh air, and traveling between the islands, guests can certainly work up an appetite before reaching the lunch stop. We are glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere at Dal Mare and that the other members of your group were happy with their meals. We are sorry that the grilled shrimp were not what you expected, though — thank you for pointing that out. Langoustines and shrimp can sometimes be described differently depending on the local terminology and preparation, but we completely understand that when you order one thing, you expect to receive exactly that. Most of all, thank you for your overall recommendation and for capturing what makes these tours so special. A day on the Adriatic really is a wonderful way to escape the summer heat of Split — the wind, the sea, the swimming, the islands, and the feeling of being away from the city all come together to create a very different experience. We truly appreciate your trust in choosing our company, and we are especially happy that the smaller-group concept, our crew, and the alternative itinerary exceeded your expectations even on a day when the sea conditions prevented us from visiting the Blue Cave. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Croatia and the Dalmatian islands again someday. Perhaps on your next visit the sea will cooperate and you will finally get to see the Blue Cave — but hopefully with just as many beautiful memories along the way! Thank you again for traveling with us and for recommending our tour. Safe travels and all the best 🌊☀️

Amazing speed boat day

A blissful enjoyable day … whilst the sea conditions meant we couldn’t visit the blue cave, this didn’t detract from an awesome day of swimming and snorkelling in crystal clear waters, and visiting some fabulous islands.
