I saw woodpeckers,...
I saw woodpeckers, thrushes, star-throats, parulas, wrens and hummingbirds, as well as a potoo.
While not many birds came close enough to observe without binoculars, this happen quite often for these nature tour. I enjoyed learning about the native plants and animals while walking with knowledgeable guides, Benjamin and Gabriela.
Operator response
It really is a unique experience—one that makes it worth getting out into nature. Thank you for your comment.

Excellent tour with knowledgeable guide
This was a wonderful trip. Our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and his English was excellent. He clearly knows the birds of Cerro Blanco intimately and he made this trip very rewarding.
Cerro Blanco itself is a dry forest habitat and the day we went, in early November, it was pretty much empty. We were able to see and photograph 39 species in about four hours.
Highly recommended.

Daniel is an excellent birder. He knows the songs/calls and can imitate them. We saw an amazing number of birds in 4 hours. Cerro Blanco is only 20 minutes from Guayaquil.

Birds, plants, mammals, reptiles, insects!
This is a beautiful dry forest reserve with walking/hiking tracks for various levels of fitness (I went on the ~1.5h trail) close to Guayaquil. The Guide was an avid biologist with detailed knowledge of the park and all of its wildlife, including birds. He is committed to conservation and has personally set up nine (9) camera traps across the park (for examples of his photos and work, see @Keepinscience on IG, FB, and Youtube). I found his answers to questions about conservation and other challenges in Ecuador nuanced, and he was very helpful throughout. This was a great way to spend some time while in Guayaquil.
Operator response

It is a privilege to have guides like the biologist who accompanied you, whose passion for conservation and deep knowledge truly enrich the visit.
We appreciate you highlighting his work with camera traps and his commitment to environmental education—these efforts are essential to continuing to protect this valuable natural area. Comments like yours motivate us to continue promoting meaningful experiences in nature.
We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Birds, birds, birds.
We were picked up at our hotel and driven to Cerro Blanco where we met our guide Daniel who was an extremely well informed and experienced guide and we had a great morning looking at birds in the reserve. This area is a real treasure for Guayaquil and it’s so close to the city and well worth a visit if you have any interest in nature. Thanks Daniel for the great morning.

Damp but excellent day
Our guide Daniel was excellent. He knows the birds, their calls & songs, behavior and history. We went during the rainy season on a wet damp day, but still found 30 new birds to include on eBird for us. It’s always a good day when you are outdoors.
Operator response

Daniel is passionate about birds and we are proud to know that his knowledge made a difference in your tour. 30 new species for eBird is a great achievement! We hope to see them again soon to continue exploring nature together.
