Big 5 Sea Safari in Walker Bay from Gansbaai

An incredible driver Tyrone Brown and guide who took us through everything from start to finish. He was entertaining and very personable, which made the whole trip fun and effortless. He took us to places we never would have expected to visit. A genuinely lovely person and a very safe driver. Thank you for taking us along the coastline back to the city while the sun was still out. This was our second sea safari experience in South Africa and we thought Ivanhoe was amazing. Within minutes we saw a whale breach and we were able to see a lot of whales during our trip. I know that that is always a risk, but we got very lucky. One of the things I really appreciated about this particular tour was the longevity of the guides in their commitment to ethical practices. They’ve helped with various research projects and for our experience, operated with integrity. It was a smaller group of people, and so the ratio of guides to guests was excellent. We were a family of seven, and we all agreed that this was an amazing experience!

It was an absolutely priceless experience, the smaller authentic boat allows you to get closer to the marine life and I believe the whales feel less threatened and more curious. They came really close to the boat. The way the Captain leads the tour is great, his funny and really educated in his craft. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone!

This trip was amazing! So organised, alot of insight from the guide. Saw a pod of dolphins that were easily over 1000 of them! The kids loved it as well!

Really enjoyed the tour. The crew were professional and informative. We saw penguins, seals and a Bryde whale, lots of birds as well. The views are beautiful, seating is comfortable and fortunately when we went the sea was calm. It makes perfect sense that you might not see anything and we are grateful that we did.

We were touring the early weeks of whale watching season, but our diligent Captain and crew made sure we saw whales. We saw Bright and Right Whales

Definitely far too expensive!!! It's clear that you never know what you'll see on a boat trip. But for a 1.5 hour tour at this price, you can get better things elsewhere.

Booked a trip with Ivanhoe for an afternoon tour. The trip kept getting put off and eventually settled for an early morning one that my 6 year old was not keen on but she loves whales. While boarding overheard a crew member say that they were out the day before which was ordinary after been cancelled on twice already! The tour was so disappointing as they spent the first 1.25hrs looking at seals and dolphins which were everywhere and then had no time to look for whales. No whales!!!!
