Our adults-only catamaran experience was absolutely incredible! We had such a great time and really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially because we had the opportunity to meet other people, make new friends, and have a lot of fun together. We even connected so well with some of the people we met on board that we ended up making plans to go to Coco Bongo tonight. That really made the experience even more memorable! Everything was fantastic. The food was also one of the best buffets we tried during our trip to Mexico honestly, even better than the buffet at our hotel. If you are looking to have fun, meet people, enjoy great food, and have an unforgettable time, you definitely have to try this catamaran experience. Go for it — you won’t regret it!
Our family decided to book the catamaran tour with round-trip transportation, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. We chose to include transportation, and everything went smoothly. There were five of us, and although we were assigned a small van, it was comfortable enough for everyone. The driver arrived right on time, exactly as indicated in our confirmation message, and the ride to the marina was pleasant. Once we arrived, we completed the check-in process and paid the mandatory marina and marine conservation fees. The process was quick and well organized. Afterward, we were invited to relax in a shaded palapa where complimentary coffee, water, and juice were available while we waited to board the catamaran. It was a nice touch and made the short wait much more comfortable. From the moment we stepped on board, the crew made us feel welcome. The service throughout the day was outstanding. The open bar was included, offering cocktails, beer, and other beverages during the trip. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always making sure everyone was having a great time. After sailing across the beautiful Caribbean waters, we arrived at Isla Mujeres. We were taken to the dock before heading to the buffet lunch, which honestly surprised us. In my opinion, it was one of the best buffets I've had during my visits to Cancún. The food was fresh, flavorful, and offered plenty of variety. After lunch, we had free time to explore the island. You have the option of renting a golf cart for an additional cost if you'd like to discover more of Isla Mujeres on your own. We decided not to do that this time because we plan to return to the island in the future specifically to explore it by golf cart. Instead, we stayed at the beach club, and it turned out to be the perfect decision. Our children had a wonderful time playing on the beach while we relaxed, enjoyed another drink, and spent more quality time together. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of the day. The return sail was simply spectacular. Watching the sunset from the catamaran, with the Caribbean breeze and the beautiful colors reflecting on the water, was an unforgettable moment that made the experience even more special. A special thank you goes to our guide, **José**, whose professionalism, hospitality, and positive attitude made the trip even more enjoyable. He was attentive throughout the entire excursion and ensured that everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of. Finally, I want to mention something that stood out to us during our trip to Mexico. Before traveling, we had heard many negative comments online, but our experience couldn't have been more different. Every tour we booked was well organized, the service was excellent, and everywhere we went, people were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. I highly recommend this catamaran tour to anyone visiting Cancún. It's a perfect combination of sailing, beautiful scenery, delicious food, excellent service, and unforgettable family memories.
The excursion itself was a great time but a lot of the logistics were lacking. We had to pay a $50 fee per person for docking and conservation on top of the original $30 we paid to book. Then upon arrival we waited 45 minutes through the check in process after arriving an hour early, once checked in they rushed us to get on the boat and said it was waiting on us to leave. They told us about needing hats due to lack of shade/cover, towels because the risk of a rash from the salt water and sun, and a specific type of sunscreen to protect marine life. None of this was listed previously to our arrival but of course they had it available for purchase on site. The buffet was decent but only open for about an hour after docking. The guides were great, we did have a lot of fun once we got past the other stuff upon arrival.
Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the logistical issues you experienced during your tour. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve our service and communicate more clearly with future guests. We would also like to clarify that this catamaran is intentionally designed as an open-concept vessel, allowing guests to enjoy unobstructed 360° panoramic views of the ocean, the surrounding scenery, and the sky throughout the experience. Because of this design, the shaded area on board is very limited and is located primarily near the cabin entrance. This is a characteristic of the catamaran itself rather than a service limitation. For this reason, we recommend that guests wear sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and appropriate clothing to ensure a more comfortable experience. We sincerely regret that your expectations were not fully met and appreciate your understanding. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards.
Fun trip, great and friendly staff. If you do the family boat the time in the village seems short. But then the time at the private beach feels a little long. (About an hour at the village and 2 hours at the beach). The main thing that bummed me out was that we never actually sailed the boat, the captain said the sail was broken. I assume none of these boats actually sail, because we didn’t see any of them doing so. Snorkeling was about 15-20 minutes long, they guide you in a loop around some of the reef and fish. You wear a life jacket the whole time so it’s easy to swim the distance (maybe 300 yards). The guide doesn’t stop at any one point so be sure to look in the water the whole time. Drinks on the family package are sunny D, water, coke, “lagoon” vodka, beer, and some pink alcohol mixture (I think it was a rum mix). We aren’t drinkers so we didn’t drink the alcohol, but the water/sunny D were good. The coke was flat though. Food at the buffet reminded me of a middle school cafeteria, not that great, but you can’t expect too much for the price. The only food I recommend eating was the Mexican food and salsa. Keep in mind the buffet is open for only the first hour of the 2 hours you spend at the beach (the bar is open the whole time). The staff were fun and helpful, overall we enjoyed it and I recommend.
Upgraded to a less crowded catamaran. Captain was very informative and friendly. Open bar and the crew were outstanding. The trip to isla mujeres was fun and rented the golf cart.
Would not do this trip again. The port fee($50) is more than the catamaran trip itself. They’ll charge you to park(300 pesos) at the port. The snorkeling was underwhelming and you better be ready to swim 100 yards to and from the snorkeling. The food at the beach club was surprisingly good. The most beautiful water you’ll ever see. The guide, Flip, was the best part of the whole trip. Overall “meh” trip.
I was told transportation I called the day be sure 730 I got a message they weren't going to pick me up 2nd time my excursion was cancelled Not happy
Dear Customer, Thank you for your comments. Regarding your tour, we informed you in a timely manner that the activity had to be canceled due to weather conditions that were not suitable for operating safely. Our main priority is always the safety and well-being of our guests, and we would never expose our customers to unnecessary risks when weather conditions are unfavorable. We would also like to clarify that weather conditions are beyond our control. Weather in this region can change rapidly and unexpectedly, and we must strictly follow the instructions and safety regulations established by the maritime authorities. When authorities determine that conditions are not safe for navigation, we are required to suspend operations regardless of our intentions, always prioritizing the safety of our guests and crew. We understand that this situation may have caused inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding. For this reason, we provided you with a full refund, as we clearly informed you that the activity could not be carried out under the existing weather conditions. Thank you for your understanding. Kind regards, Discovering Cancun
This is literally a scam. Whatever you pay to get to the dock, the group has a plan to scam you to pay an additional $50 per person after your driver has left and you are stranded. It is a fear tactic I've run into before in other countries. Thankfully I am no small man and I was able to get my wife and I to safety. You will be detained. Be prepared if you go to understand Spanish and procure a safe exit. I AM NOT JOKING.
Dear Guest, We are sincerely sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we must respectfully and categorically reject the allegations regarding scams, detention, or any situation that could compromise the safety or freedom of our guests. The additional charge you mentioned corresponds to mandatory port fees and maritime taxes established by local authorities and operators. These fees are clearly disclosed in multiple places before the activity takes place, including the "Included" and "Not Included" sections of the tour description, on the ticket/voucher you purchased, and again in the confirmation message sent prior to your tour. Therefore, these charges are neither hidden nor unexpected. Unfortunately, it appears that this information may have been overlooked, but it was provided in advance through all the standard communication channels available to our guests. Thousands of visitors participate in these activities every year safely and without incident. At no point are guests detained, threatened, stranded, or forced to make payments against their will. Any outstanding balance is communicated beforehand, and guests always have the right to accept or decline the service. We are particularly concerned by statements suggesting criminal conduct, as they are entirely false and do not reflect the reality of our operations or those of our authorized partners. Our company operates with transparency, professionalism, and full compliance with all applicable tourism and maritime regulations. We appreciate your feedback and remain available to review any specific concerns regarding your reservation. Sincerely, Discovering Cancun
We were initially unsure about taking this tour because we had considered visiting the island on our own by ferry. However, we decided to give this tour a try, and we are glad we did. One of the highlights was definitely the open bar on board. Being able to enjoy drinks while taking in the beautiful scenery made the experience even more enjoyable. The snorkeling was very good as well, although I would have liked it to last a little longer. I also enjoyed the beach club, which was a great place to relax and enjoy the island atmosphere. The island tour itself was somewhat short, but it gave us a great overview of the destination. In fact, the tour inspired us to return to the island on our own the next day. It helped us discover interesting places to visit and gave us a better idea of where we wanted to spend more time exploring. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, well organized, and definitely worth it. If you are considering visiting the island, this tour is a great way to get acquainted with it and decide what you would like to explore further.
This tour is absolutely worth it because it has everything you could ask for. From visiting the underwater museum to exploring a beautiful island, every part of the experience was amazing. One of my favorite moments was driving around the island in the golf cart. It was so much fun and gave us the opportunity to discover the island at our own pace. Something I really want to highlight is the buffet. During my stay in the Riviera Maya, I tried several buffets, and many of them were quite average. However, this buffet was one of the best I had. The food was delicious, fresh, and offered a great variety of options. I would also like to thank my tour advisor, Maria, who was incredibly attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to our original reservation time, but thanks to her assistance, we did not lose our booking and were able to join the second schedule instead. I truly appreciate her support and excellent customer service. You are going to love this experience. It is something you simply have to live for yourself!
