Such a great experience. Becca was an amazing guide- patient, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

This experience goes beyond a typical classroom-style workshop by giving you the chance to learn by doing. Instead of just talking through gear and techniques, you’ll practice packing a real backpack and learn to handle essential equipment. It’s designed specifically for beginners, with a supportive, small-group environment where you can ask questions, build confidence, and leave with a clear understanding of how to plan your first backpacking trip. You’ll walk away not just with knowledge—but with the confidence to actually get out on the trail.

A must! I went to see the wild ponies, a dream of mine. Trail guides Liza and Gabby were great. It was a small group but great fellowship, made new friends on trip too, guides were knowledge and helpful in every way and patient with me during my 1st time struggles. I was inspired in many ways God's beautiful creation 🙏🏼
It was so awesome. This was my first time backpacking and I can hardly wait to go again. Our guide was absolutely fantastic, she explained everything, and was so supportive. She gave us many options along the way based on how we felt. All of the gear and food that was provided was great. There are no words or pictures that fully describe the views and the sunrises that we saw. It was a trip that I will never forget. Thank you Happy Hiking Company.
Had the best time on my first backpacking trip. Liza is a great leader, watched out for our safety, supplied tons of supplies, taught us how to filter water, set up camp, went our pace climbing the mountain. Can’t wait to do a 2 day and 2 night trip. I definitely recommend Happy Hiking Co
Today, we can say we have hiked and camped in the Smokey Mountains. We thought we could and so we did with our Happy Hiking hostess with the mostess, Rebecca! She is an absolute delight who even brings the coffee, knows all the good spots, and when she chases waterfalls, butterflies follow. I will be raving about this experience forever! Thank ya'll so much for what you do! Muah!
Becca was an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable, patient, and outgoing. Enjoyed meeting this wonderful group of ladies. Even though it rained last night and today we made the best of it and had a great time. If you are just getting into backpacking or want more experience, I would highly recommend this trip. The equipment is top notch.
Such a great trip! My sister and I met up to backpack in the Appalachian mountains. Our first time backpacking. Liz and Rachel our guides were great! Very knowledgeable and we had such a good time despite the rain and mud we sloshed through. It was a girls trip. We met new ladies. Totally recommend.
First time backpacking didn’t disappoint. It was colder than I expected in May and was glad I brought multiple layers and rain jacket/rain pants. Bring the right gear and you will have a good time! Saw lots of ponies and Liza was a great guide. She brought lots of vegan options for food choices and filtered and boiled the water for our group. I learned a lot and definitely recommend for newbie backpackers.
Even though it rained most of trip, our guide was awesome! The hike and campsite were beautiful. The preparation and high quality foods to choose from was excellent. Good camaraderie amongst the group:)
Liza and Becca were fantastic guides! They are knowledgable, confident, and encouraging. The gear provided is is great shape and super beginner friendly for those ready to level up their hiking to backpacking!
