We had a great tour with our host Charles He drove us around the Barossa Valley and showed us all the interesting wineries where we tasted some excellent wines followed by an excellent lunch At the end of a memorable experience we bought some Mead wine for the winter
The Barossa always has a few surprises waiting, and finding something a little different to take home is part of the fun. I suspect that bottle of mead will be a welcome companion on a cold winter evening. Good food, interesting wineries, and time to enjoy the journey between them make for a memorable day in the Barossa.
Charles is an excellent tour guide. His extensive experience in hospitality shines through. He made contact the morning of the tour via text to ensure I knew time and place for pick up. He took time to find out the places I had already visited within the region and planned the day to include new experiences. I enjoyed all of the wineries visited and following my introduction to staff Charles slipped away to allow me to enjoy wine tasting. He assisted staff to pack purchases to suit my travel mode. Choice for lunch stop was exceptional. Everything about the day was perfect.
Thank you for such a thoughtful review. No two tours are quite the same, and finding places that are new to each guest is part of the planning before the day begins. Once you're settled at a winery, it's your time to enjoy the tasting while I quietly take care of the practical details behind the scenes. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a generous review and recommendation.
Charles was an interesting and informed local guide who knew so much about the area and the local wine industry. He was punctual and courteous and had planned a fun day for us. The wine tastings were generous amounts and the lunch stop was a pub with great food and generous amounts. Highly recommended doing this tour with Charles.
The Barossa has so much more to offer than great wine, and sharing the stories behind the people, places, and wineries is all part of the day. A leisurely lunch at Wanera Wine Bar gives everyone a chance to slow the pace before another afternoon of tasting and exploring. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review and for recommending my tour.
Our tour with Charles was exceptional! He was full of fascinating information and lots of laughs. Charles took us to some hidden gems in the Barrossa and finished at Maggie Beer's Farm a unforgettable highlight of the day. We would definitely go on another tour with Charles next time we're in the area.
Thank you for such a lovely review, Anne. I hope Adelaide proved to be the perfect place for a break between judging duties and heading home to Western Australia. The Barossa is full of smaller family-owned wineries, each with its own character, and I enjoy introducing visitors to places they might otherwise miss. Finishing the day at Maggie Beer's Farm was a lovely way to round off your visit. I look forward to welcoming you both back for another Barossa adventure next time you're in South Australia.
I was on a business trip to Adelaide with my senior colleague (2 people) and this is something we have never experienced before. It was my first ever wine tour and probably the most amazing day in Australia. All credit and thanks goes to Mr Charles Grover, he is such a kind gentleman and gem of a person. Barossa Valley is such a beautiful region, we had a stop at Laughing Jacks and the owner plus their wines are really good. Visiting the Chateau and the Stepplefield was also nice, the weather has been amazing and little drizzle's were making the most for us. The entire valley region is so peaceful and a treat to the eyes. The purple colour symmetric wineries looked so perfect. Once again my best for Mr Charles Grover. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you and your colleague and introducing you to the Barossa Valley. Knowing that this was your first ever wine tour made the day particularly special, and I loved seeing the region through your eyes. The winter colours, the little drizzle, the peaceful countryside and, of course, some excellent wines all came together beautifully. Thank you for your very kind words about me personally. I genuinely enjoyed your company and our conversations throughout the day. I hope this will not be your last wine tour, and perhaps one day our paths will cross again, either here in Australia or in India. My very best wishes to you both, and thank you again. Charles
A thoughtfully curated tour - highlighting the boutique family owned wines. Charles’s attention to detail & sharing of the history that shaped the region added to experience.
Winter has a charm all of its own in the Barossa Valley. The vineyards take on a different character, the cellar doors feel warm and welcoming, and a crackling log fire with a glass of red is hard to beat. Having already explored many of the larger wineries, I enjoyed introducing you to a few family-owned producers that offered something different. Thank you for your thoughtful review, and I hope winter in the Barossa has encouraged you to come back again.
We had a fabulous day out with Charles as an extremely knowledgeable guide. He shared amazing stories about the local area and had us visit both large and small wineries. We felt so relaxed throughout the day enjoying the wine tasting, incredible vineyard scenery and a mouth watering lunch. We would highly recommend Charles as an excellent tour guide for anyone who appreciates a personalised wine tour experience. Cath & Matt
I'm so pleased you discovered the Barossa in winter. It's one of my favourite times of year, with green fields, cosy cellar doors and crackling log fires. I often say, "It's not bad weather, it's bad clothing," and you certainly embraced the season. Thank you for your thoughtful review. I hope you'll return next winter and discover a few more boutique wineries, and sit beside a warm fire enjoying a good glass of red.
We had a wonderful day out with Charles . He was an amazing guide sharing his knowledge of the region. Took us to some small and large wineries. Can not recommend Charles enough . Amazing day out. Highly recommend this tour
For a first visit to South Australia, you certainly packed plenty into the trip. One of the things I enjoy most is showing visitors that the Barossa is more than just wine. The history, landscapes, and characters of the region all have their part to play. Thank you for joining me for the day and for taking the time to leave a review. Safe travels, and I hope South Australia gave you plenty of reasons to return.
What an exceptional experience, Charles was the best guide, very knowledgeable about the whole area and took us to some unique wineries. Highly recommended
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. One of the great strengths of the Barossa Valley is the variety of experiences on offer, from well-known names through to smaller family-owned wineries with their own stories to tell. I'm delighted you enjoyed discovering some of those unique cellar doors. Sharing the history, people, and wines of the region is one of the most rewarding parts of being a local Barossa Valley Guide.
This was the best wine tour we’ve done. Charles took us to differed wineries and was happy to wait while we tasted and enjoyed different wines - never felt rushed and he didn’t stop at places we didn’t want to go to (chocolate factory : icecream shops) that bigger bus tours stop at. . Thoroughly enjoyed the day and Charles’s stories ad knowledge of the area made it a great day out.
The Barossa is much more enjoyable when there’s time to settle in, enjoy the wines, and follow the day where your interests take you. One of the advantages of a small tour is being able to spend longer at the cellar doors that are hitting the mark and skip the places that aren't. Your group certainly made the most of the tastings, and the conversations throughout the day were just as enjoyable as the wines. Thanks for spending the day with Valley Wine Tours.
