The Barossa always has a few surprises waiting, and finding something a little different to take home is part of the fun. I suspect that bottle of mead will be a welcome companion on a cold winter evening. Good food, interesting wineries, and time to enjoy the journey between them make for a memorable day in the Barossa.

Winter has a charm all of its own in the Barossa Valley. The vineyards take on a different character, the cellar doors feel warm and welcoming, and a crackling log fire with a glass of red is hard to beat. Having already explored many of the larger wineries, I enjoyed introducing you to a few family-owned producers that offered something different.
