Not only is it a great introduction to our beautiful city but it is also a fantastic way to discover it, for Barcelona is all about wandering through it's old medieval alleys and feeling the history in each step. Barcelona is a city with over 2000 years of history and a surprise behind every corner. Let's walk, let's talk, maybe get a little lost. Eat some churros, take some pictures. See the basilica and its surroundings located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. (Admission not included)
Walk through this hidden square while listening to his touching story involving Gaudi and world history.
Isolated from the crowds, this out of the way gem offers a portal to over 2000 years of history. The remains of the temple to honor the first Roman emperor, Augusto Cesar. (Entrance to the Museum is not included, but we will see a very important part of what remains of the Roman temple.)

Next we will pass through the entrance of the MOCO Museum, a contemporary space that houses modern and urban art works by renowned international artists. (Admission not included)
To finish the tour of El Born, we will pass by the surroundings of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, which was built thanks to the efforts of the local residents, back in the 14th century. (Admission not included)
Under the imposing silhouette of the Arc de Triomf, symbol of progress and creativity in Barcelona, we close our tour with the same grandeur with which this city opens its doors to the world.

Each new city I go to I seek out a tour to kick off the trip so that I get the lay of the land and an introduction to the history and culture. I spent a lot of time looking for the right tour to take in Barcelona, and I am super happy with this tour and specifically Fred, our tour guide. He was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic and was fun to hang out with as well. It felt more like a friend was showing us around rather than us being on a tour. He also pointed out the restaurant that we went to for our first lunch and that was an awesome recommendation. Overall, highly recommend this Gems Private Walking Tour and Fred!

Andy is the perfect tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and in tune with our interests. He had great stories and showed us things we would never have know about or found in guide books. There are numerous group and private tour operators in the city, and I looked at many descriptions on Expedia and Viator to find one that did more than the obvious sights you can manage on your own. I found Andy at Barcelona Boutique Tours and was very happy with him. He took me into places I might have walked by just because an alley did not look inviting but not knowing that at the other end was a building or plaza. He is a newer guide, but knows the city well and is passionate about sharing it. He adjusted his route based on my interests and what I’d already seen. And he was great to just chat with (I’ve found that many guides stick to their script and are not really conversational). His English is excellent, which is more rare in Spain that you might expect or hope.
