Itinerary
Welcome to our culinary journey, starting at Plaça de Ramon Berenguer el Gran! Our guide will make introductions, setting the stage for an exciting exploration of Barcelona's rich culinary scene.
Located at the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture that took six centuries to complete. While its facade is famously ornate and neo-Gothic, the interior is a cavernous space of high vaulted ceilings and stunning 14th-century stained glass. Its most charming secret is the secluded cloister, home to thirteen white geese, a living tribute to Saint Eulàlia, the city’s co-patron saint, who was martyred at the age of thirteen. A great monument to visit on your trip to Barcelona and a nice way to start your food tour !
Once the site of medieval jousting matches, El Born has evolved into Barcelona’s most effortlessly cool neighborhood, where ancient stone walls meet high-end fashion and artisan boutiques. It is a labyrinth of narrow, winding streets centered around the magnificent Santa Maria del Mar basilica, a pure example of Catalan Gothic style. By day, it’s a cultural hub featuring the Picasso Museum; by night, it transforms into a vibrant social scene filled with some of the city’s most inventive tapas bars and "speakeasy" cocktail lounges. It only makes sense to take you around this neighbourhood for our food tour
Embark on a culinary adventure in the El Born neighborhood, beginning with the vibrant Mercat de Santa Caterina. This modern food market, known for its innovative architectural design, is a haven for food enthusiasts. Explore stalls brimming with fresh produce, meats, fish, and a delightful array of Catalan and Mediterranean ingredients. Beyond its culinary offerings, the market fosters a sense of community, where locals gather to shop for quality goods and enjoy a social atmosphere. El Born, characterized by its medieval streets and cultural richness, adds a trendy and historic flair to our culinary journey.
Our next stop takes us to La Barceloneta, a lively coastal neighborhood celebrated for its golden sandy beaches and maritime charm. Originally developed in the 18th century, La Barceloneta maintains its maritime heritage through narrow streets and colorful buildings reminiscent of a traditional fishermen's quarter. Renowned for its seafood restaurants, where fresh catches of the day delight the palate, La Barceloneta transforms as night falls into a vibrant nightlife hotspot. The beachfront bars and clubs come alive, drawing both locals and tourists for an evening filled with music, dancing, and socializing. Whether basking in the sun or embracing the nightlife, La Barceloneta offers a dynamic and unforgettable experience.

It was a fun experience. We sampled many different ethnic food and drinks for Catalonia. It's a great way to learn the culture and community. There is some walking between stops but not too much. Our guide Muriel was personable and funny and lots of fun!
Your comments are appreciated. It is always useful for our team to hear how the experience felt from a guest’s perspective after the tour has concluded. Thank you for sharing yours with Secret Food Tours!
The tour was very fun. You start off with sweets the first two stops, then tapas and paella. The vermuth and sangria were the best. But maybe don't be like me and schedule it in the first half of the day because day drinking wiped out the rest of my day I had planned. I did not make it to my walking tour I had scheduled afterwards.

We had an outstanding time on this Barcelona Food Tour. The meeting location was convenient and easy to find. Our guide Emanuel was outstanding! He was informative, friendly, was knowledgeable about the history of Barcelona, and took us and recommended outstanding bakeries, store fronts, and restaurants. The food we tried was outstanding and plentiful. We highly recommend this tour. Thanks again to Emanuel for an outstanding tour.

Bought this for my adult children - they loved it. Guide was amazing. Was not the tour they would have picked and they said it ended up being the absolute best part of their entire visit. Very well worth it. I will book for myself when I get to go to Spain!
Thank you for spending part of your visit with us. We hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed having you along. There’s always a place for you at Secret Food Tours!
Jordie was a great tour guide who’s very familiar with the area and brought us to all of the best spots!
Thank you for choosing to explore with us! We hope you enjoyed the food, the company, and the chance to see a few places outside the usual route. We’d love to have you back.
The food was very tasty, and the variety was very good. We also got to try some yummy spices unique to the region. All the restaurants except the last one were super crowded, so we were shoulder to shoulder with the other patrons on the tour which made eating a bit uncomfortable with 6 people at tables meant for 2.
We were pleased to welcome you! Every guest experiences the city differently, and we're happy Secret Food Tours could be part of your own story. We hope to see you again.
Our guide, Albert was great! He was informative with a bit of history on some of the area and our food stops. The locations he picked were good ones to give us perspective of Barcelona food. We had a group of 10 and it was just right to get to know everybody a little and feel like we were all friends by the third stop. Yummy food, informative, worth the money-no doubt. Highly recommend!!
Thank you for spending part of your visit with us! We hope the food, conversations, and stops along the way gave you plenty to enjoy. It was a pleasure having you on the Secret Food Tours experience.
Another great Viatour choice in Barcelona! Our guide Muriel curated a delicious tour through Barcelona specialties in food and drink. Along the way she wove in stories of Spanish culture to put the food in context of everyday life here. Every stop was delicious: freshly made churros with chocolate sauce, turrons, assorted tapas, paella, and sangria. Some of our best food in Barcelona was on this tour. Be sure to arrive hungry, because you get a lot of food. Muriel's English is excellent, and her style is upbeat and energetic. Highly recommend!
Scott, arriving hungry is always the right call in Barcelona, and that's clearly how you approached it! Churros, tapas, paella, and sangria in one afternoon is a proper introduction to the city. We hope you'll join Secret Food Tours again on your next trip.
