If you’re interested in Sufism or Rumi this is a must see. It’s not a dance show, this is true spiritual practice. Extremely moving, and the talk at the beginning providing history and context was very interesting. Even my two teenagers thought it was beautiful and were glad to have gone. There was a bit of a mix up with our tickets from Tripadvisor (they had the wrong time on for a start - the ceremony starts at 5pm) but it all got sorted with no fuss. Getting there is a bit tricky, easiest way is to go to Galatasaray tram stop and walk from there (I wouldn’t recommend for solo females).
On presentation they gave the wrong information.
We arrived for the 6pm performance only to be informed that it started at 5pm and the tickets were incorrect. Unfortunately we are unable to experience this at another time due to other commitments. We would like a refund please.
We went to the door of the Galata Tower museum and a very kind gentleman told us to go there and it really is a spectacular ceremony.
The ceremony was very nice but I would like to know more history.
This was located in a local area, far from the touristy spots. It felt very authentic and the guide spent his time explaining the ceremony in English first. Then he took questions and explained things with depth. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is interested in seeing and understanding this religious Sufi ceremony.
Very interesting cultural experience. Enjoyed learning about it and experiencing the ritual.
I specifically booked this show for my Italian husband and 21-year-old son to give them an insight into the richness and diversity of Islamic culture in Turkiye, even though it is a secular country. They both absolutely loved it! We found the 20-minute English explanations incredibly interesting and enlightening. The 40-minute Whirling Dervish performance (well, they cannot whirl for hours!) was a truly unique experience that they will never forget. Highly recommended if you are interesting in spiritual culture and religion.
Definitely check this out as part of your introduction to Turkey.
A nice opportunity to view a religious ceremony.
