Authentic Portuguese Cooking Class and Dinner in a Lisbon Home

It was a lovely dining experience. Jose was very welcoming, each course was a learning experience and conversation was interesting. We learned a lot about Portugal and it’s food and wines. Wonderful courses and it was fun cooking the bean salad and bacalhau a Brad. He was very accommodating to the vegetarian in our group. We are looking forward to the recipes!

Excellent. Absolutely no complaints. Bed was good,room service was invisible, location could not be faulted. We had four days in the heart of lisbon's tourist region with good access to public transport,facilities,cafes,restuarants and bakeries. A very happy camper

Dining with Chef Ze in his home was the highlight of my 14 day Food & Wine tour throughout Portugal. Chef Ze welcomed the 5 of us around his cozy pre-set dining table with an appetizing presentation of 2 local cheeses, sausage, bread, tomato jam & olive oil where the first of many wines was poured & described while we learned Chef Ze’s passion for gatherings in his home & we shared our recent Portuguese experiences. The exchange flowed learning cultural facts about neighborhoods & different regions. I thoroughly enjoyed the balance of Chef Ze’s preparation of starter dishes/dessert & our hands on technique learning, tasting & cooking in the kitchen all paired with the perfect wines! Our shared passion for Portugese food & wine & life throughout the night felt more like visiting a friend. While the evening menu was established before arrival Chef Ze was like a magician throughout the night each time he opened the 70 bottle wine cooler & pulled the most divine wines taking our palates to another level. Experiencing an evening with Chef Ze is like no other immersive cooking/dining experience in the world. Memorable in every way! It is truly a reason for traveling to Lisbon.

We had an incredible evening with Jose at his flat. The food was amazing, he taught us about balancing flavors and using techniques to enhance the dish and also offered valuable insight into Portuguese history and culture. The wine pairings were also excellent and he explained where the wines came from and why he paired them with the food. One of the highlights of our trip!

We had a reservation, paid in full and was confirmed by the host. Then at the last minute the host canceled us for no reason. I expect it was because we were two people and he got a larger group and bumped us. He said it was just business. Be very careful. The low rating is deserved.

Phenomenal food, wine, conversation and hospitality with host Ze! We felt at home and enjoyed our evening with Ze immensely.

We had a fabulous dinner/cooking class. Dre was very personable and shared so much about the history of Portugal and the food and wine. This was not your typical cooking class but a combination of cooking, history, and a wonderful in home dinner. I would highly recommend this if your are looking for an authentic experience.

A great evening together of cooking, eating, drinking very nice wines and sharing life stories in a truly charming setting. It was all we expected and more! The Bras Cod was fabulous and spoiled us for our other experiences with this new found favorite as no one else could match Ze's version and we all look forward to making it (and eating it again). But the very simple Portuguese kidney bean salad was also a surprise hit of wonderful flavors, as was the delicious clam dish. Ze is a wonderful host, with a zest for life and for food and wine and there was not a quiet moment all night. And, although scheduled for 3 hours we were entertained for closer to four hours (or a little more). A wonderful evening!

One of the highlights of our trip. We love cooking, eating and good wine - loved hearing the history of Portugal food culture, doing some recipes as a group, and learning aome about Portuguese wines. This is such an intimidate experience - in chef Ze's house. What an awesome experience and highly recommended.
